About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To slow down, take it all in, and enjoy our time right now.
ABOUT ME
Paul and I have been together for 13 years. Most of that time has been spent on getting through school and growing our businesses. We've established a pretty firm foundation and want to see more of the world and less of work. What better way to do that than through a network of likeminded friends? We have a home in downtown-north Columbia, SC. It's on a large lot across from a private college. We've got a large garden, some bees, 4 chickies, a small koi/catfish pond, some mushroom logs, and a lazy dog who gets bossed around by the hens.
PHILOSOPHY
You've got one shot. You can't take it with you. The Beatles sum it up best: "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We've hosted a few surfers but have yet to be hosted, but we LOVE company. So c'mon.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Our house has always been open to friends and family, either in town or passing through. We love company and enjoy taking care of people. I come from a big family, so I like having lots of people around. We've crashed a few couches of friends and family as well, but I'm most excited about meeting new people and experiencing new places.
Interests
Most recently, urban farming, living GMO free, and building treehouses, but in general, sustainability, soap making, alternative building, real estate investing, oceans, rivers, and lakes, reading, learning, wine, cheese, dogs, and adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books
Paul reads mostly how-to books, and he reads a lot of these, which contribute significantly to his self-education. I'm not nearly as dedicated and spend my time escaping with all sorts of fiction. We like all kinds of music, and our tasts vary too widely to list. Same with movies, though I tend to shy away from super sad or bloody movies, as they give me nightmares. Paul humors me, though I'm sure he has his regrets. I once tricked him into watching White Nights by asking him if he wanted to "watch a cold war flick."
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Getting a private bagpipe demonstration by the owner of a tiny shop on Edinburg's Royal Mile. The music was so intense and the atmosphere so intimate, I inadvertently burst into tears.
Teach, Learn, Share
We'd love to find a forest with a treasure of giant morels, so if you know of a secret patch, that would be wonderful! But we'll be satisfied with leaning what you have to teach, and in turn we'll teach what we've learned.
