Overview
About Me
Spending July and August traveling in Wales! Super open to meeting folks and receiving suggestions about where to visit, events to attend, etc. Planning to hike some of the coastal trail and might enjoy company for that adventure...
I'm a dancer/performance artist and I run an artist residency space out of my home studio in Nevada City, California. (www.desirelab.space)
Recently I've been taking a step back from performing and doing a lot of internal reflection and recalibration. Practicing grounding, rooting, and centering in my body, and, from that place, listening for what action is in alignment. Learning to wait for the 100% yeses.
I love going deep with people and talking about the big, juicy stuff of life.
The personal is political, so I do my best to walk my talk.
I am super in love with my pup, Penny, and we spend a lot of time adventuring together.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm deeply curious about place and culture, and love meeting local folks to get an inside perspective on the places I visit. I would much rather spend a day in the life of the locals than check landmarks off a list...
Interests
Many and multi-faceted. Language (and how it is the embodiment of culture); talking about art practice and performance and what makes excellent art/art excellent; transcending the construct of gender; reading/listening to epic fantasy novels; spending time surrounded by and marveling at the beauty of the natural world.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like epic fantasy novels and movies. Mostly books. Neil Gaiman is a favorite, as is Patrick Rothfuss. Loved Black Panther and Ready Player One (which I've read several times) - both made me cry multiple times.
Musical tastes are wide ranging - anything from ass-shaking bass music to minimalist neoclassical piano. I'm open to anything truly excellent (in whatever genre).
A short(ish) list: Nils Frahm, Olafur Arnalds, Spirits of the Red City, alt-J, FKA-Twigs, Sylvan Esso, M.I.A., Marion HillLapsley, Ibeyi, Active Child, Junip, Jose Gonzalez, Apparat, Bonobo, James Blake, Rhye, Tycho, Ray LaMontagne...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Many, thankfully - different stories come up at different times.
Please ask.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a lot about the body and various movement practices and am always happy to share. I'm also a good cook and have a solid understanding of nutrition. I make excellent (spicy) chai and I can teach you the secret! I like to go deep, am a good listener, and (if it's wanted and welcome) enjoy offering counsel/alternate perspectives to consider.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A meal, a conversation, quiet time, an adventure, an amateur human design reading, probably some insight...
