About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Learn a lesson from every situation we encounter.
ABOUT ME
I am divorced, have no children. I don't smoke or drink (although I may have a glass of wine or mixed drink occassionally), and don't eat meat (lacto-ovo pesco vegetarian). I enjoy spending time outdoors, and I bike ride, play tennis, swim, and lift weights at the gym. I have a car, but prefer to take public transportation. I live a calm and low-key lifestyle. I enjoy the company of relatives, both friends and family, and love meeting new people. I am tolerant and patient, kind and polite. I'm somewhat reserved in speaking my mind, but I'm cerebral. I often would like to be more assertive. I feel more comfortable knowing life is less about me and my desires and more about self-sacrifice and the needs of those less fortunate than myself.
PHILOSOPHY
I live my life simply because I want to preserve the planet for current generations. All life, even what we may consider inanimate objects such as stones or sand, needs one another and deserves respect.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At first I participated by hosting twice, and since then I've been mostly inactive. But now I don't have a permanent home and would like to visit more people and places as my finances permit.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My hosting experiences have been incredible. In the past I had opened my home to those I met who traveled to California; once in '88 to a young man from Germany, and in August 2009 to a young lady who lives in Austria. I returned to see what's up with CS because I'm studying in Ghana until June, and will be returning to the U.S. via London in June and want to visit the birthplace of my mother, which is Coventry, since I have never been to England.
Interests
In general, I'm interested in spirituality, politics, education.

Music, Movies, and Books
I prefer underground, documentary, older, and foreign films to hollywood types. So many to list, but especially french films and american classics with actresses like Catherine Deneuve and Audrey Hepburn.
I like all types of music. I favor jazz, soul, and blues, and I used to sing in a black baptist gospel choir. But I also like rock, some hip-hop/rap, and folk music.
I like spiritual books, such as native american wisdom and biographies (I recently finished reading "the Color of Water"). I am also a student, so it is necessary to study subjects pertaining to social work/sociology/psychology.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Amazing: Grand Canyon, Rhine, Niagra Falls, Central Park, Mount Rainier, the first time I saw snow falling in New Mexico, hummingbirds and butterflies.
Okay I'm sorry, they said "what is one amazing thing..." and I said more than a few.
Natural living wonders of the world always captivate me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to cook. Being one of only a few basic necesities a person needs (other than shelter, clothing and companionship), I'd say this is where it all begins. We can teach and learn from each other about our methods, the spices, of all the wordly cuisine we savor.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My knowledge and wisdom, experience with teaching yoga, nutrition advice.
