ABOUT ME

I'm laid back and easy going, you'll find me hard to disappoint as I tend to be an incurable optimist. I'm a non-smoker and drug free though I don't mind the presence of either. I like animals and they seem to like me, I was raised in the country by a mother who constantly took in strays (perhaps that's why couch surfing appeals to me!). I take pride in being helpful and reliable, as long as it's reasonable, I'll do anything I'm asked.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a traveler and a listener. I see connections everywhere in this intricate reality we weave around ourselves so no matter how insignificant the tidbit of knowledge may seem, none of it bores me. I like to view life in terms of net gain which (perhaps from my optimistic bias) is rarely negative. I've reduced my life down to the most basic of necessities, all my possessions fit into a single bag and that's how I like it, anything beyond that is a luxury. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, trust must be given in order to be received and I feel that if more people lived like this there would be less violence.

I go around spreading the notion of mutual trust and benevolence, telling any like minded people I find about CouchSurfing. I vow to never willingly harm, mislead, or take advantage of another benevolent spirit and to protect any innocent at every opportunity.

Interests

I like to read, I'm in the middle of reading all of Asimov's fictional works. I like to laugh, I enjoy stand-up comedy whenever I can or just being silly when the mood strikes. I like games of all kinds, I'm always prepared with several decks of cards, I'm always looking for good chess opponents and on the rare occasion when all the circumstances are met I love a good group word game such as Taboo or Scattergories. I love to listen, discuss, debate anything with anyone, always looking to expand my perspective.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't carry any of the music I love with me because I just become dependent on it and it isolates me from the strangers around me, I enjoy most movies even if it's just to criticize them. For books I frequent the library where there is a world of fantastic free books worth reading that I'll probably never be able to get through in my lifetime, on the rare occasion that I do buy a book once I finish reading it I like to leave it in some public place and imagine that it's gone on a journey of it's own from reader to reader.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

You can find amazing things every where if you bother to stop and look closely. Maybe not everyone is as fascinated by entomology as I am though. Hopefully soon I'll be able to call myself a full, hardcore Nomad. That might not be amazing but it's certainly rare enough.

Teach, Learn, Share

Language, I love linguistics and it seems I have a knack for grasping grammar and pronunciation. I'd like to learn as many languages as I can. I'm just starting but I'm hoping to make a career out of teaching English. I can teach a few oddball things like card games or trivial knowledge. I've also had success teaching people who have given up on it, how to whistle.
