About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Trying to figure out what to do with life
ABOUT ME
I grew up in a small village on the north coast of Iceland and I think it shaped my personality a lot. I prefer nature to cities, wide horizons to crammed ones. I decided to study philosophy because of my interest in words and the construction of language, and also because of my ever growing intolerance of the manipulation and corruption of language. I love spending long nights drinking red wine and talking politics or philosophy with friends, and I also love being alone. I'm never bored. In the future I plan to study environmental science and hopefully make a contribution in that field. I think it will be my life mission.
PHILOSOPHY
I quote one of my favourite philosophers:
"what can be said at all can be said clearly, and what we cannot talk about we must pass over in silence."

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I'm a sucker for documentaries, especially on nature and science. Otherwise, movies with a surprising story line or movies that reflect on the dark side of people. Kusturica's "Black cat, white cat" is one of my favourites. Music: Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Laura Marling, the Beatles, Sigur Rós, Lhasa de Sela, Björk, Leonard Cohen, Gotan Project, Nick Drake, Joy Division, Bruce Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac, Nina Simone, Radiohead... Jazz, classical music, world music...Books: Books in general - I'm usually reading 6 or 7 at a time. I do have some favourites though, including W. Heinessen's Lost musicians, Jaroslav Hasek's The good soldier Svejk, the Sagas and many more.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimming in an ice cold river in the middle of the Icelandic, black, highland desert. Bumping into a kiwi bird in the middle of the night on Stewart Island. Seeing that the stars are actually well defined dots in the night sky, but not blurry patches (very grateful for my glasses!).
Teach, Learn, Share
Icelandic and the Icelandic sagas and ancient poetry, if anyone's interested ;o)
I'm always looking for other nature and environmental enthusiasts to talk to!
And I'd share a cup of tea anytime.
