About Me

I travel since 17 years and have been through 90+ countries, some of them more than once.

After 5 years of cycling the world I met my husband Geo on a Mennonite farm in Paraguay. This was in 2018 and since than we have been exploring the world together.

We are trying different styles of traveling and living. We have transformed an Iveco truck to a 'tiny house on wheels'. In Spain we have set up 3 Airbnb apartments. We are currently touring around South America with a 150 cc motorbike. We both love to travel though we would love to find our spot to built a base as well.

My husband Geo is a retired lecturer and colonel of the German police. During his career he also spend two years in civil war torn ex-Yugoslavia (Bosnia). Due to his strong belief in the Bible , among other things, he lived in an African slum for a year to help.

My husband and I met while we were part of a Work Away program and something similar we would like to incorporate into our meeting with you. We would gladly help and assist in any way you desire.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We would love to give something back. When you host us, we want to do tasks for you, as we think it is only fair to balance out your hospitality. Geo could chop wood, fix moderate work around the house while I can do cooking, repairing of garments and cleaning. We could collect your groceries or just do anything you feel like rather not doing. This way, we can get to know each other too which is only adding to our travel experience.

We like to meet people in a more relaxed way, to share experiences. Often when traveling the ordinary way this is not possible. As we meet people on the road, in a restaurant or cafe and then talks are quick and informative mostly. It would be nice to get to know each other a bit better, and learn about the countries and habbits where we each are from.

Interests

When you have some time, you may want to visit my creative website www.cindyneedleart.wordpress.com It is about embroidery, which I started while I was cycling the world. I needed a creative outlet and embroidery was easy and light to pack. Up to today I still love this sort of creativity as I can do it anytime, anywhere and just a few stitches are adding to the finish of a colorful piece of fabric which I will sew into a pouch.

I love photography, writing and reading.

Music, Movies, and Books

In one word: traditional folklore. Calm music for relaxation. Upbeat for when I need more energy during an activity such as cycling. And spiritual music for when I need exactly that. There's music for each occasion but I dislike swearing words and popular music. We both don't listen to radio nor watch TV. Though usual I listen nor watch at all.

Books range from experiences of people being in a country foreign, autobiographies to spiritual books (no self-help books though ; )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived a year in Pakistan with tribal people and I cycled the world on my own for 5 years, including countries such as Iran, Iraq and Nigeria.

Geo addressed the king of Lesotho on a stage in Maseru for the radio and walked through the Zimbabwean wilderness for a few weeks with a one dollar compas and 20 dollar tent.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about photography, about handicrafts, about living your dreams and not to be afraid. I can make you masala chai and clean your room. I can repair your clothes and cook.

Geo speaks German, English and Spanish and can do handiwork, wash the car, clean the yard and teach the Bible.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cindy can share the love for adventurous traveling, thinking out of the box and trying new things.
Geo can share thinking out of the box and the values of a couch ; )
