About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to bring more beauty and joy to the world through music, play, community building, and nature connection.

ABOUT ME

I am a Vermont-based creative musician. My repertoire is eclectic, ranging from jazz standards to vocal improvisation to folk tunes to Spanish folk. I teach community singing workshops in the northeast United States to demonstrate the power of song in community building. I teach music to youth and adults of all ages. I blend songs from around the world, body percussion, movement, theater, and friendly vocal improvisation.

I also love food and cooking delicious, nourishing meals to share. I work at a health food store in Vermont and also doing various catering gigs throughout the year.

I have always loved traveling and learning new languages and ways of being. I feel most alive when I am learning in another culture.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind to everyone .

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined Couch Surfing in 2009 and then only used it once. I love the idea of couch surfing and getting to know people from all different walks of life. I've always been someone who opened their home to travelers and friends and deeply appreciate when I'm the one being hosted.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had an amazing experience couch surfing in Paris last summer - my host had a small space but was incredibly generous to let me stay there for a few nights.

I also couch surfed for a few nights in Vancouver, BC with a lovely family.

Before I knew about CouchSurfing, I had been couch surfing for years in Central and South America. I learned so much about how I want be from traveling down there. I love and admire the spirit of generosity and caring for one another in Latin America. Ever since then, I have tried to offer the same generosity to others that I meet along the way.

Interests

Travel, music, spending lots of time in nature, building community, sustainable living, supporting local food, dancing salsa and samba, leaving places better than I found them

Music, Movies, and Books

One of my favorite movies is "Amandla! A Revolution in Four Part Harmony"

One of my favorite books is One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed to the top of Chirripo in Costa Rica at dawn (the second highest peak in Central America). There I was able to see both oceans just as the sun was rising. AMAZING!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like meeting and learning from people who are open, who listen well, and who are living their lives in a full way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Open ears, joyful conversation, lots of gratitude, help cleaning up around the house, respect for your space and the people living there, an impromptu dance party!

Countries I’ve Visited

Colombia, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Ghana, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, Venezuela

Countries I’ve Lived In
