One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was traveling in Southern Japan, I got the opportunity to visit the temple where my martial art was founded. I've been studying for 16 years. It was so powerful to be in the place where my martial ancestors first developed what I practice today. To get there, I had to climb the highest staircase in Japan - 3,333 steps. That ascent alone was incredible. Before I began, I'd put my watch away and just began to climb. The steps rose through a lush, dense forest. I felt lost in their beauty. Of course, coming back down it was pouring rain and the slick, marble stairs turned into tiny waterfalls. Made it down okay, though, just one minor slip at the top. But I must say that that was my all-time favorite traveling experience.
