ABOUT ME

"Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth..." DESIDERATA. Key word is "gracefully"... I'm a long way from both ends of life and not so interested in the "things" of either. However, I am fond of true quality--friendship, food, beauty--without regard to cash. General rule-- the more expensive, the more snake oil is in the bottle. I'm a father of four adults and grandfather of five-- so far. I have been married to Debbie for thirty years and retired from teaching those who have not succeeded in America's educational system for any of many reasons.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Kids just moved back in with family. Out of service for the moment. VERY OLD house that I'm attempting to excavate from 30 years of kids...sort of archeology as everything has to be sorted first and then trashed or distributed.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed in England in 2010. Met delightful people. Hate hotels, and can't afford them often, anyway. Visiting isn't any fun without people and "NO FUN" shouldn't be happening.

兴趣

I'm an intellectual nerd. I'm interested in history, archaeology, religion, biology, music, space, science fiction, the human brain, anything they discuss on TED. Am now retired and attempting to wreck havoc with local School Board and City Council.

I watch few movies. I have managed all the Middle Earth series, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Harry Potter. While I love history, I now pass on most historical films since I've seen too much of mankind's bad side. The few movies I ever watch the second time include "Lion in Winter" and "Singing in the Rain".
Tend to classical music and non-fiction books.

I have made my living teaching basic math skills and had a series of off the wall teachers/profs who left me with wonderful memorization methods that I use in theater and chorus. I'm great at English language grammar and construction. Can discuss all major branches and most minor versions of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Zoastrionism and many animists/tribal belief systems. Am a deepened Baha'i and Lakota Pipecarrier.
