Overview
About Me
I’m a full-time journalist and a freelance filmmaker. It’s been years since I actually couch-surfed, but I thought it would be handy to update this app so that when I travel for work or whatever I can meet people and hang out.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet people when I travel.
Interests
I’m very keen on filmmaking, woodwork, comedy, and keeping up with current affairs. When it comes to self-improvement, I’m a bit of a searcher, and I’ve learned by now to carve out time for the basics of exercise, sleep, and reflection, as well as time to be productive, and to enjoy the fruit of my work.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I entered Angkor Wat alone in the dark, before my friends or the tourists had taken their dawn photographs over the reflective pools. As I was making my way through the threshold of the temple, taking my final steps under an imposing stone archway strewn with vines, a huge booming drum struck a beat from the across the jungle verge. My heart leapt and my mind raced through secondhand tales of ancient myths. I searched for an explanation but nothing was evident. I entered. The music became fuller inside, and while I climbed the walls the even booming drumbeat was joined by gongs, horns, and more bells; the local orphan orchestra, I discovered looking back across the Angkor Wat waters, had begun its morning recital.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m trained to teach English, and did that for three years. Nowadays I think I know enough about reporting to now hand on a little of that knowledge to someone who wants to write, and wants to find a way to live from that.
