About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Seeing and understanding, both near and far (Some of the best experiences are often on our doorstep!). Having good times, enjoying food, wine and conversation with people who are interested in others and the world, leaving a positive 'footprint'.
ABOUT ME
Experiences make a person, and I've enjoyed experiencing life so far. there's so much more to see and do. I've lived in many parts of the UK, and travelled across much of Europe, but not much beyond, yet! I have two wonderful daughters, and two granddaughters, who keep an eye on me in a very nice way. On the other hand, if that doesn't give sufficient information, I'm 1. 85 tall, can be a bit political and am prone to be untidy. If you want to know more, why not meet me? I'm also very easy to get along with, (so my friends tell me!)
PHILOSOPHY
Enjoy life, enjoy work, enjoy friends (new and old), and leave the world better, or at least not worse for my presence on it. (I cannot change this, still true)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I joined CS because it seemed a marvellous way for people around the world to make contact and share experiences, good times and the future. It is a way that the world's people can become stronger together. It is also such a great way to travel! Now, several years in, it still seems a great idea!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couchsurfed in Cuba with some wonderful guys, and in Portugal and Poland with the best hosts ever. What else can I say. My guests so far have been great, all very positive and friendly, even the British ones!
Interests
Good food, wine and beer. Gardening, although it is a very dry year. One guest this year has helped me water! Thanks Simone!
The natural world. Education. Films. Travel. Lots more.

Music, Movies, and Books
I can't list all favourite films or music, there are too many! I enjoy most modern music, but as I grew up in the 60's, rock, folk and blues are always favourites. Have just seen a film 'Milk of Sorrow', exraordinary Well, lots of films have now gone by, and I can't think of one to highlight, will think of one!
My darling sister has her album out, Sadie Jemmett. Have a listen.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Impossible question! Here's one to do with travel, which is what readers may be looking for. Going down an underground city in Turkey, four storeys, with another four unexcavated. It housed 2-5 thousand people, maybe more than a thousand years ago. No-one knew who they were! Uprising museum in Warsaw, everyone should see it!
But the birth of my daughters was more amazing!
Teach, Learn, Share
Being with people in different countries, sharing cultures, making links that break the divisions governments create is very important. I would like to use my skills from 30 years of teaching to help create a better world. Big claim, but a small success would be good.
