About Me
CURRENT MISSION
experience more people, support more art, grow more plants, learn more languages. and how to cook...and bike..
ABOUT ME
The more I study art the more I become addicted to learning everything, including the "non-art." Because those things have been important to someone I have met somewhere, and I find their passion fascinating and catching. And I genuinely believe everything is interconnected, and that subject differentiation is sometimes an unhelpful construct. I wish I could be a professional student.
I consider myself more of a generalist, and can't see myself having a single "career path" because in my view, everything is learning, everything is patterns, and everything you do or learn can be applied to the betterment of all the other things you do.
I will likely be going from abroad job to performing job to humanitarian project intermittently - or simultaneously - until perpetuity. The more things I do, the more fuel I have to do them, somehow.
It is also my secret wish to work in a vineyard and become a wine connoisseur.
In the future, I'd like to get a Masters or so in Applied Theatre/Drama Therapy, also potentially Directing and Positive Psychology, a Pilot's Certificate, a yoga teaching credential (edit: 200-Hr acquired in 2018!) and a Massage Therapy License (it's a freelance-able skill I am hoping I could take anywhere I might live).
I am attracted to the idea of teaching theatre in other countries, but the reality of A) cost and time B) wanting to also perform C) sacrificing developing deeper roots in **one** place at an important life phase of mine is making things kind of complicated.
Ideally I want to always be involved in meaningful work that combines theatre and travel/cultural exploration and psychology/soulpower, and which allows me to always be engaged in and/or to facilitate community.
(Currently I am involved as a substitute teacher, the assistant director for a group of blind actors and a group of veterans in L.A., and most recently an actor in a troupe that performs internationally in interactive forum theatre-style plays that encourage bystander intervention and that advocate for victims of sexual assault. I love applied theatre! A lot of our best learning is playful and participatory!)
I am not very good at being cooped up in the place where I live. I can relax and often crave solo introspection time, but I get very excited about the opportunity to move, to learn, and to have new experiences with good people. I like getting to know people through dance and play.
I have learned to heartily enjoy the company of pretty much anyone. I think people and the things that get them excited (or make them afraid) to live are absolutely fascinating.
I am upset with myself that I have not been writing. I am fighting to remain engaged.
PHILOSOPHY
I live for open exchanges and freeing experiences where nobody censors and nobody judges. I think it is poisonous to go looking for those things, and so I feel like if I live a good life those people and those opportunities will naturally fall into place. And they always do, in the best of ways, thankfully.
Interests
music, African rhythms, Sushi, Jazz, theatre, live performances, street artists, getting to know people, solving problems, impromptu impulse "poetry", learning people's stories, learning everything, learning to enjoy time spent alone, spontaneous new things, traditional old things, word play, interpretive dance, all styles of dance, expanding my interests, eating new food, bonding over food, feeling everything except anxiety, true best friends, strangers who say hello.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have eaten some superb guacamole and played with some wonderful people.
Lived on Jeju Island in South Korea for two years living and working with some incredible boarding students, and even directing a bit and working with the drama classes!
Spring of 2010 I sailed around the world for 4 months taking classes on a ship and learning about the artistic expression, history, family units, values and cultures of 8-9 different countries in the context of lectures, dances, discussions, conversations had within our beautiful floating academic community, and also firsthand.
I was absolutely amazed by the growth and learning opportunities afforded to me during my undergraduate studies!! A B.A. in theatre, minors in music, psychology and philosophy, ...plus ample dance and fitness classes, a great film department, sporadic sociology classes! I could not get enough! I absolutely love and am amazed by learning environments!!!
I spent the night on the Great Wall once. It was cold.
Teach, Learn, Share
Yes, please. All things. Any thing. I am game. Let's share music and languages!!
I am particularly dying to learn: to fly (a plane; ...but if i can fly without one that would be great too), drumming, instruments of all kinds, massage techniques, more about wine, cheese (/cheesemaking), making pretty much anything (soap, chocolate, clothes), ceramics, visual art, ..also film/photography
And I am of course ALWAYS up to learn more techniques and styles of dance, movement, acting, voice for singers, etc.!!!!!
I love learning. It literally pained me to be in my last semester of school. I took 14 different classes that semester and I loved it.
