About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Moving to Portland!
ABOUT ME
I want to visit every state in the US. A fairly simple task at this point considering I've already visited Alaska and Hawaii.
I am a New Yorker, knitter, biker, reader, NPR listener, guitar (sorta) player, dancer, coffee drinker, cooker, baker, sewer, dog owner, non tv owner, kombucha brewer, weaver, quilter, spinner, dyer, crocheter, mix cd maker, letter writer, potlucker, try anything once-er
In the summer I can be found on my bike riding to an out door concert or movie, my bag filled with a picnic blanket and snacks!
In the winter I still like long walks and playing in the snow. I like being warm, wearing layers and hats. I drink lots of warm tea and cook lots of warm soup and can be found watching a movie, reading a book, listening to something spoken and knitting on my couch.
I've just started organizing a local community dance that happens once a month. www.brooklyncontra.com
PHILOSOPHY
Everyone has had a rough day, or year, or life, or five minutes. We'll never know what other people have gone through, so I try not to judge. I try to be happy and smile and laugh as much as possible and I try not to care about the laugh lines forming. They're there to remind me that I have smiled and laughed a lot in my life and that's better than anything.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted, surfed, gone to events and gotten friends to sign up! All have been positive experiences and I'm itching for more!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A few years ago I was making my way across the US and hooked up with some guys in Flagstaff, Arizona. It was a great coincidence to meet the only other people in Flagstaff, Arizona that happen to have mohawks. Long story short, we got thrown out of the county fair for playing frisbee...and having mohawks.

Music, Movies, and Books
Folky, old timey, bluegrassy music is my fave these days. More specifically, bands I like; Bright Eyes, The Avett Brothers, Elliott Smith, Kimya Dawson, Nirvana, Old Crow Medicine Show, Joni Mitchell, Modest Mouse, Beastie Boys, Iron and Wine, The Magnetic Fields, The Decemberists, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, to name a few.
I mostly enjoy reading modern American fiction and Children's Picture Books.
It's A Wonderful Life is my all time favorite movie.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I walked the Camino de Santiago. I lost half my toenails, but I gained more than I could have ever expected.
Teach, Learn, Share
if you're interested I can teach you some knitting, sewing or contra dancing. I can shyly jam on my guitar if you tell me the chords and i have a couple of drinks.
