HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My frineds and me have a travel plan in New York between 2009/12/29~2010/1/2 , we have already booking a sublet apartment and pay the rental but finally find that is a swindler and I lost 972USD dollars. so i have no more money for this travel and i still don't know how to let my friends understand what happen.
But i must find a place that we can stay there in NY for a week. so i find here and want to find someone who can support us~~
