About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Collect and share stories. Collaborate. Build community.

ABOUT ME

I'm a radio documentary storyteller by training, but my work spills into the realm of writing/dance/video as well. Collaboration is at the center of my storytelling work. I love mentoring/working with/learning from youth and see this as an integral part of my work in the future. I want to give others the tools to tell their stories and the stories of their communities.

I recently returned to the USA from a year-long trip. I circumnavigated the globe via cargo ship, collecting stories along the trade routes. I'm now working on a collaborative documentary project with the digital cargo (sound/image/text/video) I gathered.

I am happiest when I am engaged with the world around me, experiencing it in a new way each day. It is easiest to do this when I'm traveling and in new places, but something I'm learning to do in familiar places too.

PHILOSOPHY

We are ALL learning ALL the time. We have so much to learn from and teach each other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing and Hosting

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had great experiences surfing in the USA, Belgium, and China. I've met great people at CS meetups in Istanbul and Cairo. I look forward to hosting when I am stationary again.

One of my favorite couchsurfing experiences: My sister and I stayed with Jeanne in Albuquerque, NM and she took us out dancin', two-steppin' and west coast swing... we had a fantastic time.

Interests

Collaboration: Bringing people from different backgrounds and skill-sets to work together and cross-pollinate; It is rich and beautiful terrain.

Sound, Stories, Documentary Art, Learning to recognize plants, Theater of the Oppressed, Stop-motion photography, Random spontaneous bike rides, Getting lost on purpose in my own town

Building community. Connecting people who can support each other and connecting to people who can support mine. Potlucks, collaborative art projects, yes yes and yes.

Global shipping, All things cargo-ship related. Understanding the global economy and how we are connected to each other. Being accountable for that. Telling the stories of people who work behind the scenes to glue the globe together.
