I want to find a way to spend some quality time in Scotland while pretending that I'm writing my master thesis. Any ideas?

PHILOSOPHY

I often get this feeling that I'm floating inertly through my life and then in an act of self-punishment I create elaborate plans for improvement, which I follow for a fortnight or so. That's why I believe that the only thing constant is change.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've spent some time with couchsurfers hosted by my former flatmates and I really enjoyed the experience. Now I can offer a couch of my own and look forward to meet new people when they visit Warsaw or when they host me during my travels.

Interests

Sometimes I wish I was Scottish, but then I realize that being Polish is great too. Somehow I manage to combine my real cultural identity with the acquired one, discovering all that's so amazing about those two great nations. This may take a hike up some mountains, a book read in a comfy armchair, 80 minutes spent cheering Scotland in a Six Nations game, a bike-ride through scruffy Polish villages or a concert full of violin/bagpipes/guitar/flute/accordion noise.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to read - it's a perfect way to procrastinate some important stuff while appearing inteligent and deep. I fancy a good novel like the ones by Mann or Remarque. I dig words about the past - 19th c. literature from Scott and Stevenson, a good Sherlock Holmes mystery, a creepy Poe perhaps... I also read historical and anthropological works for my studies. But most of my reading are sports articles about rugby and football. Sad story actually.

When it comes to movies, I'm seriously addicted to TV series. My girlfriend turn an evil eye on me when I quote some silly stuff from Blackadder, Seinfeld or, recently, How I Met Your Mother. She's as bad as I am though, couse she got me hooked on Dexter and Nip/Tuck. I call it even.

As for proper films, I enjoy very various pictures - from Stanley Cubrick to Richard Curtis, with some Peter Jackson and Clint Eastwood thrown between them. My favourite would by Rob Roy. My dream is to shake the hand that held the blade of Tim Roth's rapier.

Music is the tricky part, cause I have this annoying habbit of enjoying only the music that I already know well. That's I why apart from my beloved folk music, I listen almost exclusively to the tunes that my dad used to play in his car - Queen, Blacksabbath, Dire Straits, Phil Collins and all that late 80s./early 90s. stuff. Some exceptions to this rule are Mogwai, The Who and Joy Divison (I'm a impressionable person and I really liked the movie Control).
