About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My current mission is to teach my mind to be more loving, compassionate, generous, balanced, and fearless.
ABOUT ME
I love meeting and interacting with other people. I often go out of my way to talk to strangers. I love working as part of a team. And I LOVE anything related to group dynamics, such as when people sit in a circular and practice intentional communication.
I have a huge passion for dance.
As mentioned above, I am currently studying Historical Sociology, focusing on social movements. I am very interested in how different movements develop their understandings of global inequality. For a long time I have felt compelled to understand "social issues" from the broadest framework I could find. That's what I am seeking to do now.
I deeply believe in moving beyond binary approaches to problems.
PHILOSOPHY
My actions are guided by an underlying sense of trust.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm visiting Guatemala for the first time with the intention of studying Spanish. I would love to have the chance to meet people. I love to share stories and am happy to help with cooking or any other task. I'd love to know your recommendations for music! I just like meeting people and connecting organically with strangers.
Interests
Group facilitation. I have a lot of experience with group processes, such as working with conflict.
I like to write.
I love to dance salsa and bachata.
I am studying social movements because I think human beings are creative and can solve our problems (whether the problems are a profit-driven capitalist system, exploitation, greed, or conformity). I truly believe we can build something different. I think we have to be clear on what we are trying to tear down in doing this, but that we also can't only focus on what we are trying to tear down. I believe in directly practicing alternative visions.
I am studying history because I think we can't solve our problems without analyzing the complex historical forces that created them in the first place.
I have a deep love for sharing, whether it's sharing time, sharing food, or sharing learning.
