About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Pure unadulterated fun.

ABOUT ME

Greetings fellow couchsurfers!

I'm a poor, lowly student of English Literature, currently studying and living in Edinburgh, Scotland. It's a great city and myself and my friends have explored its every nook and cranny, so should be expert guides in showing you around and making sure you have the utmost fun possible during the course of your stay.

PHILOSOPHY

Couchsurfing has just asked me 'Why do you live your life?'...They really know how to make a man on the edge re-evaluate his sorry existence don't they?

Seriously though, my personal mantra would be something cheesy along the lines of 'Have fun, enjoy yourself, be good, be kind'. Something really vague and obvious like that fits my outlook on life quite nicely.

Does that make me sound boring and generic? yes, it probably does...hmmmm maybe I'll come back to this one later.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was introduced to couchsurfing by my brother and, having done a fair bit myself throughout Europe and Africa, I can honestly say I'm 110% behind the project (which means I could backtrack 10% and stillbe entirely behind it)-it's a great way to meet people from a variety of backgrounds, all with really exciting tales of travel and adventure. There's a certain type of person who couchsurfs in my experience, and from what I can tell they make up the best people. I've introduced a few friends to the community and I'm always encouraging many more to join up!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed whilst hitch-hiking through most of western Europe and northern Africa and the one consistent feature of my travels was the kindness shown to me by perfect strangers willing to let me sleep under their roofs. I've made many great friends over the course of this and, now I'm able to host others, hope to give something back in this different way.

Interests

What am I interested in? Now that is a BIG question. I'm interested in YOU. Only not in that way. Well, maybe in that way, but we'll have to wait and see. Ahem, anyway, what I intended to get across by saying 'I'm interested in YOU' was my love of simply sitting around and having a good chat about life, the universe, anything you wish. I find that everyone has some pretty interesting stories to tell and I'm always ready to have a good serious debate with someone or just a laid-back, relaxing chat and joke.

As for my other interests (I hope my interest in you wasn't too creepy and I managed to get across my actual meaning): well, like most people I have an interest in music, films, books...I'm keen on making my own very amateur way in each of these fields too (i.e. I have been in awful bands with friends, made awful films with friends, written awful books on my own). I'm also into most sports: football, tennis, running, squash especially.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done plenty of amazing things in my lifetime, not to be too arrogant. I was born once, for one thing, and that was pretty spectacular I can tell you.
Aside from that, and considerably more recently, was my luck in being able to traverse with a number of friends who were couchsurfing around Europe and Morocco, the 300ft-high sand dunes of the Sahara desert. To watch the sun set sat atop what amounts to a higher entity's sandpit is both blinding and spectacular, quite a transcendent and humbling event in my own short lifetime.
