ABOUT ME

I do what I like, and I like what I do.

Formerly an adventure tour leader for international travelers, and always an adventurer, I've packed up and moved north to Alaska, where my heart is happiest. If you're in and around Homer this year, I'll be looking for people to camp/hike/adventure with when you get here!

PHILOSOPHY

The best thing for being sad, replied Merlin, to learn something. Thats the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Participating in this project is so much bigger than just surfing and hosting--which are big feats, yes--and even bigger than cultural exchanges in some ways. We participate with our trust, our willingness to exchange, change, and be changed, our growth as global citizens, and our ideas to leave a place with an even better impression than when we found it. I participate because I want to leave this world a better place than I found it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All of this, all of my experiences, and all the brilliant, radiant people I have met in this world have led me to believe that paradise is not in places, but in people.

Intereses

Bears, camping, art, good music, campfires, cooking, world change, languages, bears, beer, road trips, youth development, bears, guacamole, and learning from everyone I meet.

From Alaska to the Amazon, Japan to Europe, I am continually and consistently impressed by my world, everything is amazing! I am full of stories, but they are all energized by the people behind them.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Among other things, I willingly share language skills (English, Spanish, Portuguese), Travel Advice (I've driven all over the USA) Dancing skills (especially la Salsa, Samba and Forró), Capoeira, and some killer homemade cookies.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

While I'm perpetually in transition, and don't intend to have a solid "house" for the summer, I am more than happy to lend a tent or camping gear to Couchsurfers, or make room in my car on a road trip to a trailhead. I love meeting new people, but be patient--the summer gets REALLY crazy around here, so we do what we can.
