About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

Life Mission: I aim to experience life, learn from questioning and exploration, and create positive social change.

PHILOSOPHY

"Point is, what's so wonderful is that every one of these flowers has a specific relationship with the insect that pollinates it. There's a certain orchid look exactly like a certain insect so the insect is drawn to this flower, its double, its soul mate, and wants nothing more than to make love to it. And after the insect flies off, spots another soul-mate flower and makes love to it, thus pollinating it. And neither the flower nor the insect will ever understand the significance of their lovemaking. I mean, how could they know that because of their little dance the world lives? But it does. By simply doing what they're designed to do, something large and magnificent happens. In this sense they show us how to live - how the only barometer you have is your heart. How, when you spot your flower, you can't let anything get in your way."-Adaptation

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Immersion and hopefully by meeting you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Waking up at 5 am with my hosts, biking through a sleeping Sydney before jumping off rocks into the sunrise lit sea and going spear fishing. This was followed by an afternoon get together and a feast o' fish.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like introspective books - Steppenwolf, authors that make me laugh - Vonnegut, books I don't want to put down and fire my imagination - Harry Potter, books that make me think - Structure of Scientific Revolutions/Camus, and books best read aloud - One Hundred Years of Solitude.

I like movies that are funny and sad, exciting and real, or just absurd. I like the Eternal Sunshines and the Wes Andersons, the Big Lewbowskis, the Zoolanders, and TV shows like Arrested Development.

Musically, I like indie/alt. -Arcade Fire and Radiohead, old stuff- Dylan and Kinks, electronic esque - Cut Copy and LCD Soundsystem, alt Hip-Hop - Atmosphere and Blue Scholars, and the intragenerational - Clash and Talking Heads.

But really, above all, I'd like to get recommendations of a favorite book, see a movie someone else wants to see, or go to a show.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've fought wild dogs and been charged by 300 water buffalo in Africa, survived in a snow cave on a Patagonian glacier, organized and led a hurricane relief group to/in New Orleans, and been on ESPN sportscenter.
