About Me
CURRENT MISSION
We're moving out of the middle age group. What's that like? As boomers there are millions in this same place. How will we define, create, and modify what has been the experience of aging for our parents generation?
ABOUT ME
Here's something, we don't have - a TV. This started in 1972 when we moved into a house in a canyon near Boulder and couldn't get any reception. Some of our neighbors got satellite dishes but our habit (or non-habit) had formed and we didn't go that route. Then when we finally moved in 1989 we thought about cable, but that wasn't available so we just stayed TV-less. So far the only problem is when someone makes some cultural reference to a show and we don't know what they are talking about.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Although new the CouchSurfing organization we have hosted touring bicyclists through Warmshowers.org and traded homes through Home Exchange International. We are also members of Servas. All of our exchange and hosting experiences have been positive.
Interests
As a couple our interests are music, fine craft, and outdoor recreation. But I'm not sure what the order would be.
When I say music I mean participatory music, of course we listen and attend too, but mostly we play it ourselves. Both of us have played music since childhood. Bonnie is currently professional with the dulcimer (http://bonniecarol.com) and for Max music is avocational. We are both involved in a Zimbabwe style marimba band and if you visit on a Tuesday night you will experience a rehearsal. If you show any interest you might well be recruited to play with us.
Bonnie has an excellent background of Celtic music and Max is learning to play the penny whistle, he grew up on brass instruments and did a good job with the guitar many years ago too.
Max has been a craftsman all his adult life, a professional luthier from 1965 - 1983, and for the last 20 years or so working alabaster on a lathe, creating decorative vessels included in museums and collections across the continent.
In the outdoor recreation department we hike, ski (nordic and back country), bike (road) and run rivers. We'd love to show you around our local mountains, either on foot, skis or wheels.
