About Me

PLEASE NOTE: I have been quite unwell since some time but feel I like to give something back to the universe because all my life I have had protection and help from many people all over the world.

I might not be great company but if you are in Eastbourne / the Eastbourne area and find yourself with little money and in need of a little home rather than a party hostel, you are welcome to contact me - may you be a genuine soul.

CURRENT MISSION

Always keep living, laughing and loving

ABOUT ME

I am a person with multiple interests and of mixed origins having parents from two different worlds - one the Oriental world of Egypt, one the occidental world of Germany. Since a child, I have been interested and fascinated by different languages, people and lifestyles. I consider myself a person with an interest in social, political and environmental issues and like to be(come) active towards such issues be it volunteering with refugees or helping in a community garden.

PHILOSOPHY

“Everyone has a purpose in life… a unique gift to give to others, and when we blend this talent with service to others, we experience the the real meaning of happiness".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't used CS very much as I didn't go travelling for a while :(
But for the future I look very much forward to host people and be hosted:)

Interests

On a personal level, I have a strong interest in photography, in which I see an ideal way to show and reflect my great love and interest in people, especially common folk in their everyday life. Also, to my many interests count a great love for documentary film and independent world cinema of which I like, particularly, South American dramas. Having lived in this part of the world (Mexico) my passion and love for colorful, traditional clothing, handmade jewellery and traditional dishes was created.
During my time in the UK several years ago I discovered swimming and sea kayaking. It's this combination of being active discovering new places and sometimes having company on the water which makes sitting in a kayak so attractive for me.
From my time in Sinai, Egypt, I took great pleasure in mountain hiking away which forms an ideal place to enjoy silence and inner peace.
Then, in 2019 and 2020 I came to meditation and Yin yoga which has done a lot of good in my life.
And finally, I am getting more and more into having plants and growing things as I am now part of a community allotment yet my interest in herbs and medicinal plants has been around for quite some time. In Germany I attended some workshops learning to make organic soap and cream which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Music, Movies, and Books

Generally, my music taste covers a wide spectrum of music from Iranian Ud, Turkish Ska, Mexican Folk to American Rock, French Punk and German Classic.
As manifold as my music taste is also my literary interest, including politics, art, philosophy, psychology and science. Mostly, I read fiction(Kite Runner)sometimes non fiction (development policy / philosophy)and occasionally poetry (Arabic and German). Film wise, I very much enjoy world cinema, in particular dramas like "Auf der anderen Seite" or "Amores Perros" but I also like old classics in black and white like Hitchcock or German silent movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping under the stars in the Sinai desert.

Beeing at the museum of "Frida Kahlo" in Mexico City.

Sitting in a plain looking down at Fujiyama volcano in Japan

Having seen / heard Buena Vista Social Club live in Mexico

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that the driving force behind giving and receiving should be happiness – if you want love, love others; if you want joy, give joy to others; if you want all the good things, want the same for others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Languages fascinate me and having done a couple of language swops with people whilst living in the UK I am happy to exchange and practise them.

Having learnt how to make Spanish Omelette and getting better and better at it I am happy to prepare one for you ..otherwise I have some other vegetarian recipes which you might like ...
