About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Having a blast during my semester abroad
ABOUT ME
I'm an open-minded, easy-going, friendly, energetic and enthusiastic person. I love making new friends, hanging around with people and just spending a fun time. I look on the bright side and go through life usually in a good mood and with a good deal of dry humor. I tend to get bored quickly, which is why I have to do something or meet someone new and exciting every day. That doesn't mean though, that I can't settle down for a while.
I love trying out new things and having a dip in the proverbial cold water. New experiences broaden my horizon and give me a new perspective. They are something that I value greatly.
I've been studying Computational Linguistics and English Linguistics for four semesters in Heidelberg, Germany. For my fifth semester, I'm in Dublin, Ireland.
PHILOSOPHY
'The irony of life: No one gets out of it alive.'
So make the most out of it and don't be too serious about it.
Two gorgeous quotes by Mark Twain:
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.
'Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw of the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.'
If I would ever get myself a phrase tatooed - this would be it. The only downside: It's too. Fucking. Long.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
While traveling I try to couchsurf as much as possible and furthermore introduce as many people as possible to the couchsurfing experience.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had my first couchsurfing experience in Monaco. Afterwards I couchsurfed Australia and South East Asia.
Couchsurfing allows me to get to know the locals rather than only scratch the touristic surface. Everyone knows that locals know the places and activities of their area better than any guide book. Furthermore, I get the most out of the experience when I also have the chance to get to know people's cultures and lifestyles.

Interests
I enjoy laugh-out-loud funny jokes as well as wacky humor and the subtle intricacies of irony and sarcasm.
I enjoy everything in another language. I love to improve my French and my Spanish. I adore learning or occassionally inventing new words or puns and I love getting to know better other cultures or lifestyles.
Before I went to uni, I did judo and would like to try out different martial arts if I have the time.
I adore being active and in contact with nature. I enjoy all kinds of sports, especially jogging, hiking and playing table tennis.
I'm a card game enthusiast and love to learn new ones.
I love listening to all kinds of music, but I get the most out of listening to rock & pop music and house music for partying. Though I love to discover new bands. Music really makes me get alive. Conversely, I enjoy dancing (even though I'm not good at it) and would love to learn new styles of dance, particularly South-American ones.
I'm interested in Maths, philosophy, psychology, computers and popular culture phenomenons but enjoy having profound conversations about any topic whatsoever - be it trivial or nonsensical - just for the fun of arguing about it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: a bit of everything, though no country and heavy metal; Metallica, AC/DC, Green Day, Die Ärzte, Billy Talent, Good Charlotte, Seeed, Katy Perry, Shakira
Movies: I adore Quentin Tarantino's movies but I love David Fincher's, Martin Scorsese's and Christopher Nolan's. Also on my favourites list: 'The Godfather I + II', 'The Shawshank Redemption', 'Sin City', 'The Usual Suspects', 'Lucky # Slevin', 'Die Hard' and - to embrace my geekier side - 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World'.
Series: I love 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'The Big Bang Theory' for the puns, 'Sherlock' for its sophisticated riddles, '24' for the adrenaline cocktail, 'Game of Thrones' for watching a whole world of schemes and intrigues unfold and of course 'The Simpsons' for holding a mirror up to society.
Books: I'm quite into what some may call 'humorous fiction': That is, for fantasy, Terry Pratchett's too-funny-to-be-true 'Discworld' and - for science-fiction - Douglas Adam's eyeball-popping-out-funny 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'. I also enjoy reading Stieg Larsson, Philip Pullman, Eoin Colfer or George R. R. Martin's epic saga.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My trip through Oz has been a sequence of mind-blowing events and awesome experiences. My favourites were the exhilarating feeling of zero gravity while scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef, the exhilarating feeling of zero gravity while skydiving (I like zero gravity; it gives you a feeling of unimaginable freedom) and sleeping in a swag under the starriest sky I've ever seen near the awe-inspiring silhouette of the Uluru.
