About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To visit every Continent and see 50 countries by the age of 50
*Completed the 50 country goal in March 2017, but can't stop there. I'm too hooked.
**In completing this goal, however, I have learned is not about the number of places, is about the experiences. Whether this be staying someplace for months because you love it and can't leave, or leaving a city after a day because it doesn't interest you, it doesn't matter. Do what makes you happy, and not what you think others want you to do.
ABOUT ME
I have to start with, I'm not very good at being interesting or funny at these.
Starting with my career, I work in theater at a performing arts center. I am the Artist Service Coordinator, which means I get to deal directly with each of the performers who come to the building. I love what I do and have fun doing it.
Something about myself that anyone I know will be the first to tell you, is that I have a great laugh, and I'm not afraid to use it. Laughter is my thing.
I love to travel. I guess that's why most of us are here right. Well, I get it from my dad. I took a trip and next thing I know, I'm hit with the travel bug. I guess I plan to go back to Australasia maybe to study Marine Biology. Until then I will continue to push away at theatre. I do enjoy Managing things, but don't worry, I won't go planning your trips for you.
I guess I would say I'm pretty average though, aside from my traveling experience. I enjoy music, but don't have a certain type I like. I love movies, but will watch just about anything. I enjoy sports, but was never really steller at any except Swimming and some like to argue that that's not even a sport. Hurrumph... But what really drives me, is I have dreams. Some might be out landish, some might just be to pay off my car. I may not always follow through with a dream, but at least I dream. It's better than most. I just hope that I can help others to dream.
PHILOSOPHY
Laugh hard! Live Long!
My favorite quote is from Charlie Chaplin:
"A Day Without Laughter, Is A Day Wasted"
A philosophy I'm still trying to teach myself is that we can't spend our life trying to do what we think others want. We will only spend our entire life exhausting ourselves and for nothing. We should live our life to the best or our ability and do what we truly enjoy and believe is best.
Thanks to Couchsurfing I have formed some amazing friendships. If you're interested in meeting some of the people I've grown to love, join the DC Couchsurfing group on Facebook.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would like it if at some point I can eventually be able to participate more in housing travelers. Since traveling has become such a huge part of my life I would like to share that passion with others. Now is not ideal for me, but hopefully in me participating in CS now myself I can have a better idea of what would make me a good host.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have met a few people through CSing events and I've surfed once before. Through the events I've met some of the greatest people I know.
Interests
My big passion right now is Scuba Diving. I currently work part-time at a dive shop, so if you are diver and just want to get in the water I can work on getting you out there. We only have a quarry here, so it's not much but it's a chance to get in the water.
I enjoy swimming, and it's about the only sport that really gets my attention during the Olympics.
I read. Surprisingly not as much as I would like. Lately I've been trying to sort out all my photos, but usually I'm reading...A LOT!! Between my friends and I we have our own personal library and will usually exchange books all the time. I will read all kinds of books, but I find Young Adult Fantasy to always catch my attention.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music.... Hmmm... well, just about anything. I have about 18 stations pre-programmed on my radio and they are all set to completely different types of music stations from Country, to Pop, to Alternative, to Classical, to Rock.
Movies... Well, I guess I always love to re-watch romantic comedies, but I have more serious movies and watch adventure, and fantasy, and action movies. I also have a soft spot for Disney.
My favorite go to movie is "Big Fish" or cartoon "How to Train Your Dragon"
Books... I love books!! :) I will read mostly fantasy, but I'm enjoying historical fiction, romance, mystery... I guess once you get stuck in a type you like, it's hard to branch out.

Teach, Learn, Share
My biggest lesson I can teach is, know who you are traveling with. Just because you think you might be great friends, you may not travel well together. It really all depends on your travel style, but you may have to learn to be flexible, and maybe even willing to part ways for a while. I have also found the best people to travel with are people I meet along my travels. Not necessarily the ones I went traveling with from home.
