CURRENT MISSION

We are a young couple on a gap year from University travelling the world to explore new places, meet interesting people and learn about other cultures.

ABOUT ME

We are both students who have just finished our degrees in law. We are both going onto further study in the UK when we return from our travels. We met at University and live together at home in London. We are both interested in sport, traveling, enjoy reading books and learning as much as we can about different things! James is very much into motorsport and is a part-time mechanic in the UK for a race team. He is passionate about the sport and dedicates much of his time to it when he is at home.
I enjoy horse riding and am an Advanced Scuba Diver, both of which I am very passionate about. We both love football, although we support different teams which makes it interesting when they play one another!
We have been traveling so far for around 3 months and absolutely love it and are very excited about the rest of our trip.
Both of us are highly motivated, interesting people and we are very much looking forward to meeting lots of wonderful people through the CS experience.
I was born in London and have lived my whole life in the UK, except for 4 months in 2008 where I spent time in the USA. After traveling I am going to do a Masters course in Global Security.
James is Scotish by blood but lives in London. He spent 4 years living in Japan when he was a child with his family, and would love to go back and visit. He will be completing his LPC in London after traveling and at the end of his course he will almost be a fully trained solicitor.

PHILOSOPHY

Corny, but we have really learnt to live every moment as if it were your last, be true to yourself and others and enjoy the moment.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

During our travels we have discovered CS and both think it is a wonderfully novel idea. We like the idea of meeting people in their own day to day lives and experiencing places from the local, rather than the tourist, perspective.
On our return to the UK we are very much hoping people will come and stay with us so that we can continue to meet new and exciting people in our own town, and to share our home with fellow travellers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We heard about CS from some friends we have made on our travels, and through them we have been able to CS in Australia with a lovely lady in Armidale. This experience has shown us that it is something we are very keen to continue doing, both away from home and at home.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Claire - I love most films especially the old black and white kind! Again I will listen to most genre of music although again the oldies are the best. I enjoy both novels and academic books, especially any books surrounding Africa, the study of law and WWII books.

James - I have no particular favourite movies however I enjoy documentaries and British comedy classics. Musically my favourite bands are Guns 'n' Roses, Queen, and Elbow. I'm currently reading Lord of the Rings and enjoy a wide variety of books that I pick up around the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Some of the amazing things we have done in our lifetime is to skydive, bungy jump, scuba dive, and of course the most important one...we managed to graduate from university!

Teach, Learn, Share

We both have a wealth of knowledge about English law, and would greatly love to hear others opinion on it and share our knowledge. James has much mechanical experience which can be shared and I took a lot of modules at University specifically on the social problems surrounding crime and disorder around the world. Furthermore we both have a good understanding of legal philosophy which we love to chat to people about, if they can stand it! We are both very keen to learn from others traditional food recipies from their own countries.
