Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In the past I have hosted a few people in China and look forward to a time when I have the space to do it again! Couchsurfing has helped me find and make friends when I've moved to new cities, and meeting interesting people from all over the world on their travels. Long may it continue!

I'm a big believer in learning languages to really get to know a different culture. Failing that, food is a good start. Chinese, Korean and Iranian are my favourite :)

Interests

I love walking/hiking and cycling, so I go by foot as much as possible; always the best way to get to know a city :)

Horses and horse riding are my absolute favourite. Unfortunately, I don't get much opportunity to ride these days, but always take up the chance when it arises!

I like learning about everything and anything, so I enjoy an afternoon at a museum or reading a good book.

Music, Movies, and Books

If you can appreciate a Taika Waititi directed film, I'm sure we will get on. I am also in minority group of people who did not enjoy La La Land.

I listen to a lot of different music. I really enjoy country music, old school rock bands (The Kinks, Rolling Stones, Dire Straits) but equally love Kpop! It doesn't take much to get me on the dance floor, but Lady Gaga or Prince are sure to do the job!

There are far too many great books in the world to name them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Signed myself up to study a bacholer's degree in Chinese Studies despite not know a single word of Mandarin, or having ever visited China. Still the greatest decision I've made to date. Perhaps besides quitting my job go traveling ...

Teach, Learn, Share

For anyone visiting London I can offer advice on the good (and reasonably priced) food, or where to get a nice drink. I can also suggest some more unusual sights to visit, that are off the normal "tourist trail".

If you plan to travel to China sometime I can offer some advice on places to visit and how to get around.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer language exchange; English, or Welsh for those who are interested. If you want to learn some basic Mandarin, I can help you with that.

Otherwise I can offer to cook you a (hopefully) nice meal :)
