About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Try and decide where to travel this year.

ABOUT ME
I'm a random traveler who wishes I could do more on a whim like I used to. My work schedule has slightly slowed my travel schedule, but I do plan to make it to Egypt, New Zealand, and Peru in the next 5 years. I am someone who can enjoy a 5-star hotel one evening and a hammock on the beach the next who can enjoy food from a street vendor just as much as a 3 star Michelin restaurant.

I'll also try just about anything. I've had meal worms, haggis, jelly fish, I've had dog at least once, sea urchin, fire roasted unknown large beetles, etc. If it's a native food, I'll try it. Might not like it, but I'll try it.

I am half Japanese, quarter Cherokee, eighth Hispanic, and an eighth Irish. So, I am broken English and mixed culture friendly. My two best friends from elementary school are both gay, so no worries for the LGBT community. If I am available AND you have some references, I am willing to host anyone friendly (just not too friendly if you get my meaning). My family is mostly Catholic or Buddhist, so I do not judge people by their religion. I travel a lot and work odd hours, but if someone is in a jam and needs a couch, message me and I might be able to host you. If you have lots of positive references and contact me far in advance, I may even be able to arrange for you to stay at my place even if I am working.

PHILOSOPHY

In 24 hours a person could be anywhere.

If knowledge is power, than maybe someday I'll rule the world.

*****I do also have one negative reference. Please read it. The reference is from a crazy guy who told me I wasn't welcome AFTER I was already at his place. Messaged me when I went out to get my suitcase from the train station. Ranting about how I'm Judas and some things about the FBI. I left him a neutral reference trying to be nice and thinking perhaps he has some mental issues. He then left me a negative reference and tried to bribe me to take down my neutral one of him. Yeah...he admitted he only gave me a negative reference because of my neutral one. I think he is a dangerous man and I hope anyone considering meeting up with him will reconsider. It also makes me wonder how many other neutral or negative references he had that he scared/bullied/bribed people out of. If you read it, you will see my honest and non-rude reference of him...and his creepy negative reference of me.***

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've unofficially hosted people and I'm looking forward to hosting people through here in the future. I plan to CS/travel in general until it is no longer physically/financially possible. I'm also willing to share and/or accept travel stories, travel tips, a good chat, and/or a good drink and a meal with anyone.

I'd like to meet and network with people all over the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed many a couch and crashed a few hostles as well. Sleeping bags in the woods sans tent, I've done it. Futons, couches, cots...I've graced many of them in many locations. Official CouchSurfing experiences have all been excellent, both meeting other cs-ers or staying on their couches...

Interests

I have way too many. I'm working for University of Michigan and considering finishing up my masters (if you work for them, they pay for most of your schooling). I'm trying to learn Japanese on the side. I have over 11 days of music on my iPod. Scuba diving, paint ball, random travel, martial arts, dive bars, rock climbing, wearing kimonos (I have 30+), tea ceremony, cooking (mainly Japanese and French), random travel (mentioned twice because I love it so much)...just too many interests...

Music, Movies, and Books

I own more books than any one person probably should. I also have such a wide variety of musical interests that I couldn't list them all here. (I am also a retired jazz drummer). Movie wise, I like mostly action, horror and anime. I'm a huge kung fu movie fan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've pulled trilobites out of a mini-waterfall cliffside in Canada. I've played in famous international fountains in evening wear. I've spent an evening at a small pub in the outskirts of Paris chatting all night with people who none of us spoke the others language more than a few phrases. I've reconstructed Native American pottery. I've scuba dived in Hawaii and played with a shark. I've had a puffer fish run into the back of my head and had it scare me more than I scared it. Hiked the temples in Cambodia. Learned that Portuguese is extremely difficult to learn and even the Japanese in Brazil don't speak Japanese. Went to a cooking school in Thailand to learn how to cook Thai food. Learned to surf last year in Costa Rica. Got my advanced diving cert last year in the Dominican Republic and did a tour of Italy on a whim.
