About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Self discovery, of course! And having fun with the people in my life. Also, I would like to fulfill my life goal of living in fulfillment of my personal ideals and ethos, learning from others and striving for a healthy self and planet.
ABOUT ME
I'm a petite woman, though most people are surprised to realize just how short I really am. That's not to say I have an obnoxiously imposing persona, but I do present myself in a way that makes a "taller" impression than one might imagine. (Or maybe it's the 2 inch heels on my boots...) I like to ride my bike to get around San Francisco, especially downtown where the traffic is bad, it makes me feel especially fast, efficient and amazing. I like to wear skirts and dresses despite some history of being a tom-boy; it's just more fun to be a bit dressed up, and besides, I have a hard time finding good pants for myself. My profession is in making costumes for theatre and dance productions (so I guess I could make myself a pair of pants!), which is a very cool job except that I'm getting kind of tired of it now. I look forward to finding an occupation that will more directly serve my intention to make the world a better, more genuinely connected place. Some thoughts include the possibility of perhaps teaching and/or leading volunteer trips abroad.
PHILOSOPHY
I like to strive for a peaceful and loving attitude, however I'm not immune from the rising frustration at injustices in the world. In moments of crisis, though, I take solace in the bigger picture and knowing that we are all connected. When I engage others, I like to hear what they have to say, so I will often encourage others to talk more. If we happen to be very closely aligned, then I like to jump in with expanding ideas. When we are not closely aligned, I like to jump in with expanding ideas, though taking care if necessary to respect their position.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm just signing up in this community. If I do make a trip soon, I intend to be a great guest and do dishes, or if I don't make a trip soon, I might be able to meet some of y'all for coffee and show you around San Fran.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Well, I have couch surfed before, though by the old fashioned method of staying with friends I already know. In fact, I'm just returned from a trip to Montana, and had the extreme good fortune and pleasure of staying at some houses of friends in Oregon, who were delightful and hospitable in every way. It is especially easy and welcoming to stay in a house with ample extra space and an artistic or musical bent to it, because then everyone is already in the mindset of having new people come and go in a creative atmosphere. There were even little notes around the house to help with common questions, like the cupboard under the sink had a sign telling where to find the garbage and recycling, and the bathroom door had a sign telling you another one was upstairs...

Music, Movies, and Books
I like older movies that don't have so many chip-choppy cuts all the time, like Hitchcock's, or this French New Wave film called (in french) "Cleo Between 5 and 7", Music of many genres, though not overproduced commercial fluff or misogynistic and violent lyrics. I like classical, opera, b-bop, old r&b, rock'n'roll, latin and afro influenced, electronica, danceable music of many types. I have read a fair amount of classic fiction, and some non-fiction (mostly in the New Yorker).
