About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Relocating to London, but taking the long road there :)

ABOUT ME

Having spent the last 3 years working in New Zealand (where I grew up), it's now time to get overseas again. I'm currently en route to London, where the next big adventure begins!

Previous travels and adventures have included a year long trip through the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, and ending with a year helping to build a chili farm in Mozambique. Other bits of fun have been swimming for a living, working in venture capital and financial restructuring, and trips through SE Asia, China, and the Pacific Islands. I like meeting new people who don't think like other people :)

PHILOSOPHY

Do what excites you, do it well, and have fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Spent 3-4 months hosting intensely in NZ before taking off around the world, where I surfed across a number of countries, all of them awesome experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted plenty in NZ, and have surfed in Iran/Greece/Italy/Morocco/Mozambique, and lots more outside of CS :)

Interests

Swimming, waterpolo, surfing, pretty much anything in the water. Beaches (especially when there are waves, even when it's really stormy, preferably without sharks), warm weather, reading, learning how to play guitar properly, though this has been on hold during a year of travel.

Oh, and variety. I like finding and exploring new ideas, activities, places, people. But that's why everyone is on CS, right? :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music -
Yikes! Nearly everything. Actually.

Movies-
Quirkiness of Wes Anderson (Darjeeling Limited, Life Aquatic etc).
Coolness (Watchmen, Kickass, Trainspotting)
A healthy dose of trashy feel-good and RomCom (Forrest Gump, Love Actually)
And a bit of comedy (Top Secret, Waynes World, Black Books)
All sorts of thrillers/guys stuff (eg. the Bourne trilogy)

Books - Catch 22, Life of Pi, Terry Pratchett, The Screwtape Letters, anything a bit quirky, different, or that makes you think (and of course, the occasional page turning thriller!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming for New Zealand at the Beijing Olympics - great fun :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to speak with a Kiwi (New Zealand) accent. It's awesome, Bro.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Cambodia, China, France, Greece, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Laos, Morocco, New Caledonia, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
