ABOUT ME

I'm currently a backpacking and rafting guide in Glacier National Park in Montana, and some fellow guides and I are taking advantage of the off season to travel around Europe. I'll have guitar with me and I'm excited to make some new friends and experience all that Europe has to offer.

In the past I've been a Spanish teacher, a professional cliff diver, a whale researcher, an English teacher at a monastery in Myanmar, a snorkeling guide in Cambodia, an unpaid intern in DC, a coffee farmer in Honduras, and a bagel operations manager. I love learning new things and I think that the world is just a fabulous place.

PHILOSOPHY

I know it's not "personal", because someone else said it, but I think he said it well...

"The most exciting movement in nature is not progress, advance, but expansion and contraction, the opening and shutting of the eye, the hand, the heart, the mind. We throw our arms wide with a gesture of religion towards the universe; we close them around a person. We explore and adventure for a while and then we draw in to consolidate our gains. The breathless swing is between subject matter and form."
-Robert Frost

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed a little bit on a cross country biking trip that turned out to be an incredibly eye opening and revitalizing experience, and I have hosted and co-hosted surfers in Ft. Collins, CO and Philadelhia, PA

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My favorite couch surfing experiences have been in Philly, hosting people from all over the world. I love to hear their stories, and I love it even more when we have had similar experiences in other places. We usually give them a biking tour of the city and share some of the exquisite food Philly has to offer. (not cheesesteaks...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I bought a ticket to Honduras a week in advance not knowing anybody down there, with the hope of living and working on a farm. The day after I bought my ticket, a new friend told me that she had a "second family" down there, who owned a coffee farm, and who would probably welcome me with open arms. As chance would have it, Carlos (one of her Honduran family members) called her an hour later. I spoke with him and he invited me down to stay for as long as I would like. A week later I was sleeping in their home, working in their fields, playing soccer with them, making and selling tortillas and pupusas, and before I knew it, they were my "second family" as well.
