About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world and play music

ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty laid back guy. My work is as a musician, mostly playing and teaching cello. i was born in the USSR, in the republic of Uzbekistan, but grew up in San Francisco from the age of 3, so i speak russian with my family.

I'm interested in many things. i love to have fun, even at the expense of sleep. i love nature and fresh air. i love good food. i love family and friends. i don't think of myself as a complicated person, i try to keep it simple. life is complicated enough.

"the world is a book. staying at home is like reading only one page." i completely agree with this quote. It's a good way to explain why i like to travel and why i joined couchsurfing.

PHILOSOPHY

Be honest to others, be honest to yourself. Do what you love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

it has been great times followed by more great times. I have hosted and surfed for 7 years and I plan to keep doing so for many more.

Interests

I am interested in: music and art. all people and all cultures and their histories and philosophies. science, particularly biology and psychology. i love to play sports, though recently i haven't had much time for it. but i still love doing some running and staying healthy.

i would also like to add what i am not interested in: money, greed, dishonesty, authority, social conventions, preconceived notions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hearing a gamelan orchestra in Bali play for 5 hours at a big festival/holiday. with no tourists except me and my friends. the real deal... that's what traveling is about.

an amazing concert at dawn at the rajasthan international folk festival, watching the sun rising and overlooking the city of Jodhpur.

Too many. I have no real favorites.
