About Me

I really enjoy meeting new people and learning about other cultures and viewpoints which differ from my own. I grew up in the middle of nowhere and now that I have the opportunity to travel abroad I want to make the best of it!

Right now I'm working on an MBA with a focus on economics and consulting. My latest career aspiration is to be a development economist, but I really just want to do something that allows me to live overseas and make a positive impact. I also want to live on a sailboat.

I've lived several places in the US, as well as Singapore.

I'm all about life and the living, and similarly-minded people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling to new cultures and truly immersing myself, making new friends, and getting off of the beaten path. I like the exchange of life experiences in an open-minded environment.

The free part is great too.

Interests

music, singing in the shower, photography, harmonica playing, architecture, building and fixing things, economics, being outdoors, just having fun, and learning new things all the time

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, Alan Jackson, Pink Floyd, Common, Van Morrison, Joe Pug, Jackson Browne, Eagles, Gregory Alan Isakov, Tallest Man on Earth, Mofro, Ben Harper, The Black Keys, Palestrina, Gustav Mahler, lots of folk and blues standards, and too many others to mention.
I love music.

Books: The Old Man and the Sea, and basically anything by Hemingway, The Brothers Karamazov, The Great Gatsby, A Confederacy of Dunces, City of God, Spoon River Anthology, and lots of books about science, religions, social issues, and economics (and how it actually helps the world).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dogsledding at night in -40 degrees Fahrenheit with the northern lights dancing in front and the stars glittering behind me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really enjoy photography, music (I love jamming on my harmonicas), staying in shape, sailing, learning how to work on cars and BMWs in particular, building things like my own dining table from a tree, and adventures in the outdoors, and could probably teach a thing or two.

My interests are quite varied, and I like working on my Spanish whenever the opportunity arises!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A thriving interest in just about everything, especially in the struggles and conquests in everyday life both individual and societal. I'm always down for new experiences and intelligent, reasoned discussion, especially with my own experiences and those of others.
