About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to build a sustainable future, one tiny step at a time
ABOUT ME
I am building a homestead with my husband, John Delp, in a little town a ferry ride from Seattle called Kingston. We have a blog about our project. you can check it out at
http://www.mellishfieldswest.com
Until recently I worked in the professional theater world as a prop designer/fabricator. I'm an avid gardener, pickler, cook and eater. I love food. I bike and am starting to kayak. We live in the foothills of the Olympic mountains and take every opportunity to enjoy the surrounding splendor!
PHILOSOPHY
live moment to moment, always ready for the next open door. Or a door with a small crack.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to this and have hosted several people since joining. I have also surfed in Belize and look forward to more traveling!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had never heard of couch surfing as an organization until I met my husband, John. I fell in love with being able to meet people from around the globe and cook meals together.
Interests
cooking, eating , drinking, biking, playing volleyball, gardening, laughing, wood-working, welding, reading, hiking, mushroom hunting.... just to name a few. Puppets really do it for me. There are very few things I don't like to do and am nearly always game. Oh, and I like games. board games, card games, chess.

Music, Movies, and Books
I can not stay awake through movies to save my life, but I have seen a few that i have really liked. I read a wide range, but Haruki Murakami, Paul Auster, and Richard Brautigan are among my favorite fiction. I dig non-fiction books about the brain, mushrooms, bikes and all manner of building instructionals.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I drove around the country in a mini-van for eight months trying to find a new city to live in. Seattle won.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn languages. I know some Spanish, but that's about it. I have lots of crafty things at the house and would love to share puppet making ideas. We had a wonderful couch surfer who taught us swing dancing.
