ABOUT ME

NOW I'M IN NYC.. still no couch though - sorry kids.

I'm no stereotypical Texan, I don't own cowboy boots, I didn't live on a ranch growing up, and did not ride horses to grade school.

However... my family now has a few acres in the middle of nowhere after we sold our suburban home... which we call 'The Ranch'... and of course there are a couple horses.. I guess it was only a matter of time...

Spent my Undergraduate days at Tulane University in New Orleans, learning about Chemical Engineering and how horribly a direct hit from a hurricane can mess up a city. I met a variety of people over the four and a half years I was there and, oddly enough, spent most of my time hanging out with people in New Orleans Theater and Musical Theater (VERY different personalities than my engineering friends from school).

I am social at my best, but a nerd at heart. I love to talk, listen, and share most of my thoughts on life, but sparking the conversation has always been my weak point.

I don't have a place to host, but I did some traveling in Australia and New Zealand

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Having been to quite a few Sydney events, I'd say that Couch Surfing is a fantastic network/community of amazing like-minded people. Everyone has been very open and the overall quality of my experience can be summed up in one word - Awesome.

I really want to learn how to surf, specifically on a wave (not a couch).

TV: I don't watch TV, and I'm crafty enough to follow shows that I like on my own time. Those shows being Fringe and Supernatural.

I'll listen to just about everything though.

Books: Science Fiction (that's right, all of it =P): Heinlein, Asimov, Pournelle, Niven, to name a few Authors - "A Song of Ice and Fire" George R.R. Martin - Read a few Anthologies recently: "Wastelands: Stories of Apocalypse", "Sorcerers" (something like that) - Been reading politically charged books as well: "Hoodwinked" John Perkins - "Understanding Power: The Indispensable Chomsky"

Volunteered after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, gutting houses and helping neighborhoods recover with simple acts of kindness and community service (making new road signs, cutting lawns, repainting homes, repairing roofs). I met some very amazing people.

Teach: I mean.. if you want to learn some general Chemical Engineering stuff...

Learn: How to really cook! (college cooking isn't real cooking...) I also like to learn things I've never even considered or thought about.

Share: Rational solutions, fun philosophical discussions, enthusiasm in everything?
