About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To experience all that life has to offer for the time I'm alive
ABOUT ME
I'm a well educated and fun guy. I can talk for hours unless I get hungry, then I get real quiet. And once I start talking about something I feel passionate about, it's hard to shut me up.
It's easy to get a positive outlook out of me, quite regularly coming from my most rational side. I like psychology as much as I like cooking (and once you get to know me you'll understand how bold this statement is). I'm not formally trained in psychology nor do I want to be, but I'm interested in day-to-day human interaction, communication, emotion, relationships, expressiveness, and all those complicated but fascinating sides of the human mind.
I like to be surrounded by people and by ideas. I enjoy traveling, good food, exercise, music, reading and watching movies. I rarely watch TV or read the news. I practice meditation almost daily and my philosophy is to love life, as long or as short as it comes. Life comes with some pain but it is mostly filled with beautiful experiences. I was born and raised in Costa Rica, but I'm loving Seattle! Music is as essential to me as coffee. Both are to be consumed on a daily basis, and to be enjoyed slowly and profoundly.
I'm confident about myself, I love myself, and I value people with a healthy dose of self love. I am vulnerable and consider it a strength, I'm not afraid to fail, or to cry, or to show my true colors. I'm not scared to let my emotions flow, because they make me who I am. I like taking life slowly, dancing slowly, cooking slowly, but smiling intensely, laughing at all costs, and be brave regardless of the circumstances. I'm always reading a book and a few magazines, and I love sharing articles with people who might be interested in the topic.
My most cherished memories are from the pleasure I got by giving something to someone, usually not related to material possessions. From a recipe, to a hug. From holding a hand when needed, to tearing down walls (literal and metaphorical). I think my life experiences made me appreciate the potential I have to impact the lives of those I care about even if just in the most subtle ways.
I'm a software engineer and work at a pretty big local company where I'm having lots of fun and a great experience. Meeting people from all over the world at my workplace, some of whom are among the most talented and inspiring individuals I've had the pleasure to share with. I don't usually talk too much about work, except with my fellow geeks out there.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm good at picking my fights. I'm good at living the present. And I learn really fast.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books -- I like hundreds, here are a few: the design of everyday things; the fabric of reality; cain; ensaio sobre a cegueira; cien años de soledad, etc. Lately I've been reading human improvement books like flow, the multiorgasmic man, only the paranoid survive, and others.
Movies -- well I tend to like independent/foreign movies in general, but among my mainstream favs are Trainspotting, Pi, Fight Club, 300, Invictus, the last couple 007s, the last couple Batman, the girl with the dragon tattoo trilogy (swedish). Movies like Another Earth and The Intouchables (french) hold a special spot in me.
Shows -- I don't watch much TV, but I liked watching Lie To Me, The IT Crowd, The Simpsons and Seinfeld. More recently saw Battlestar Galactica and House of Cards. Most of the "quick fix" tv I watch comes from ted.com, so it's not really tv.
Music -- Malpais, Mozart, Puscifer, Underworld, Steve Tibbetts, Calle 13, Jorge Drexler, John Mayer, Señor Coconut, the Putumayo collections, M83, The Killers, Yelle, Justice, Santigold, Neon Trees, Florence + The Machine, Passion Pit, Discovery, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Metric, The Kooks, The Darkness, Awolnation, La Roux, Muse, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Manu Chao, Phoenix, Delerium, Dredg, Bliss, Fauxliage, Achillea, and many many more. I am getting a lot into Latin rhythms and into electronica mixes of classics.
