About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy life fearlessly and show others they can do the same!

ABOUT ME

I love meeting people and learning about their lifestyles and culture.

PHILOSOPHY

I've come to realize the importance of community. Everyone needs some kind of support group, whether it be family or friends. I find it best to live a slow, relaxed, simple life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I bring an element of openness to this community. I enjoy experiencing others' lives.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I took a vacation in West Africa, visiting Burkina Faso and Ghana. I stayed with friends of friends and even some missionaries. I really enjoyed trying local foods and impressed my hosts by my willingness to eat anything.

I stayed in St. Helena, CA for a week while taking a class. The house I stayed in had no heat and was freezing cold! But I loved meeting my hosts and they showed me around their town and had fun.

Interests

Food, particularly cooking and baking, blogging, photography, board games and card games, crafts, sewing, hiking, softball.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reggae music, especially roots. I've been listening to lots of West African blues (Ali Farka Toure, Ismael Lo, Tinariwen, Bombino.) I have recently been exposed to Buddah Bar.

I don't watch many movies because I always think of something else I'd rather do. I like reading contemporary literature and The Atlantic Monthly.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Owning my camel Buddy was pretty amazing! I had a pet camel for 6 months while living in Niger and it was fun taking care of him and attempting to ride him. I had never even ridden a horse so it was a new experience for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help others learn about cooking and baking, whether it be grandma's apple pie or creating homemade beef stew. I'm also an experienced (and hardcore) camper.
