Hi. I am a student studying in Heidelberg originally from Hong Kong. I have studied my bachelor in Seattle, United States and travelled around the globe. I love languages, cultural exchanges and meeting with different people. I think the most valuable lessons I can learn are to interact and establish friendship with people with different backgrounds as a Chinese idiom says "Walk a million miles is better than read a million books." I love film, history, philosophy, cultures and politics and also some silly fun stuffs and chats. I am always willing and ready to learn something I have not known before.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing because I think it is a great opportunity to really learn about the local culture of a city. I like the general touristy stuffs but I would also really like to integrate into the daily life of the locals. By meeting with the people living there I think it's the best way to experience something you can't read on the travel guide. And as an international-minded person, I just want to make friends with different people on the globe. From the people from different backgrounds it's the best way to reflect and know who I truly am and even learn inspiring lessons from a person with totally different mindset from totally different background.

Interests

I studied history and philosophy in college and history and transcultural studies for MA so you may get a basic idea of what my passions are. I just love to view the world with a deeper scope and see how cultural differences and similarities are shaped by history and ideas. I also like to learn about politics and listen to people's stories. My hobbies are not limited to the intellectual sphere but also jogging, swimming, hiking, drinking, socializing, partying, music, film and anything fun. I am such an experimental person that would love to try new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't limit myself to certain kinds of music, films and books and I generally like all kinds of good stuffs. But I can never get bored of listening to classic rock and oldies especially the 80s Cantopop. I have studied film history so I have watched movies from the silent era to the contemporary ones. I have favorites from each era and genre but I would say my hero would always be Stanley Kubrick and more modern would be Tarantino. I love Hong Kong movies too and I always long for a movie buddy that can talk about movies with me all day long. I love books about history and philosophy as it's my interest and sometimes some novels too. I'm not a kin reader but I read a lot on internet about all different kinds of interesting things going on the globe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the amazing things I've done would be the Euro trip back in 2009 when I had my exchange program in Paris. I travelled from Paris to Brussels, Amsterdam to Berlin, Prague to Vienna and then Venice to London. It was such a grand trip ever I had ever planned and I accomplished all by myself. It was such a great experience and I still often recall the sweet memories of 2009. I just love travel and experience new things.
