Ok update: i wish i never validated my profile and got verified or whatever it is. Now people don't send me like 5 requests a day anymore. Here's how it goes: I accept everyone. Come on over. I might/might not have time for you, there might be more surfers, roommates might be here, might not be here, whatever, but you are welcome. Artists especially. If i'm at work when you arrive, we just tape the key to the door or something.

I think the nice thing about our place is that we take no responsibility as hosts whatsoever. If we have time we are open enough to do anything with anybody. If we don't have time we don't mind people coming and going in our house and doing whatever they please.

This small book under this little text is my profile from when I used to surf. You don't have to read it, I just left it there. Time to return the favour. Anybody is welcome! Last minute people: here's my number. +32 484 995 121 (update, lost cellphone, you'll have to send a message) Call me anytime!

(Sorry for this long text. I think it´s not describing me at all. short version: I smoke, I like art that isn´t in a museum and I like alcohol. Velvet Underground.)

Hello!

My name is Michaël, I'm hitchhiking to Prague. It's loads of fun. Art school drop out.

I have no idea who I am, but I intend to find out somewhere in some country. I wish I was scared of no one. I like the sun. I try not to hate anything. I like running away. I'm pretty happy to exist. No idea what I'm doing. My friends lose me in crowds. Festivals are cool. Blahblah this doesn't feel like me, very strange. When I read peoples profiles I usually define my opinion on how they write, not on what they write. When someone proposes to do something, I ask myself whether it's gonna be a story worth telling. If it is, I'm in. I made a cd once (you can have one) and I can jump to the moon. I'm an arasari, that's a small sort of toucan. I had a something with a little raven once. Dead flowers are the most beautiful ones. Banana on the bbq, draw on everything, no shoes.

Man what an incoherent nonsense

Due to the uncertain nature of hitchhiking I usually send last minute requests to people.
Sorry! I like meeting people more then planning ahead. I try to adapt to the place I go to, to be polite and to clean up after I've been somewhere. In general, I'll be happy if you were happy that I passed by. Furthermore I send lots of requests to people so it happens that I copy and paste stuff. This doesn't mean I didn't read your profile. You probably seemed like an ok person if you got a request. Don't feel sad to decline me for any reason, I have a tent and can find a park. I just prefer to meet people.

Some more keywords: guitar, biiiig backpack, top hat (or other kinds of hats), beatnik, colours, vinyl, languages, smoking, fucking hippy, fucking hipster
Update: lost the top hat on a festival. Bye hat!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's free and it's a little awkward asking people in the streets for a place to sleep. I tried it before and it didn´t work for me all that well. Usually I don't dare to ask it. Scary. Shame is retarded, I have to get rid of it

souchkurfing

woahhhh

Interests

I like listening to the velvet underground to get really worked up and then dance through the streets with wine and cigarettes and act like I'm crazy to get away from the fact I'm just like everybody. Stay up late because that's what kids love to do. Radio and tv is funny, but it's always the same funny. I love riding a bike, if you have one please let me drive a few blocks every day. I like hugging my friends and patting them on the head and take them out dancing in the streets. I like that you still have no idea who I am. Haha you! (I like being really at ease as well) (new languages are fun)

Music, Movies, and Books

Update 01/07

Fuck man ive been listening to the same shit for so long. I want something else than the psychedelic garage americana rock stuff i usually listen to. Gimme something new! Fuck pure genres, i like mix ups between them. Pure hiphop, nahhhh. Funky hiphop? Yeah. Pure electro? Nahhhhh. Jazzy electro? Yeah. Pure acid? Nahhhhh. Acid influenced by classical music? That would be amazing
(this is so not true i just listen to shit music)
The Brian Jonestown Massacre

I took Flatland, The Illyad and The Catcher in the Rye with me on my trip, but I haven't read them yet. If I'm finished I can swap them for other books. I like British and American literature.

Music: I prefer guitars over beats, but I can manage most genres. I find myself drifting into artrock (surprise), psychrock, garagerock and most music that has something to do with the velvet underground in some way or another. Also Beefheart. 70's. That kinda stuff.
From what I noticed, music is important if you wanna make friends. It's usually a big part of people's personalities. I covered sesame street once. Here's some bands I like:

Flaming lips, Velvet underground, tom waits, rodriguez, 13th floor elevators, brmc, fever ray, ry cooder, beefheart, cigarettes after sex, yeah yeah yeahs, love, propellerheads, gorillaz, nouvelle vague, the cramps, daniel johnston, the residents, chad vangaalen, mac demarco, courtney barnett, beck, tame impala, supertramp, can, neu, faust, cymande, underground youth, david lynch, ty segall, the oh sees, black angels, syd barret, pink floyd, doors, cake, young marble giants, morphine, funkadelic, donovan, john frusciante, deerhoof, moondog, sun city girls, dirty three, grinderman, nick cave, limiñanas, new candys, modern lovers, mark lanegan, iggy pop, herbie hancock, brian eno, my own performances in the shower, gainsbourg, holy wave, eels, fatboy slim, max berlin, morgan delt, jefferson airplane, bowie, beatles, air, tortoise, connan mockassin, la femme, dEUS, neu!, the kills, sufjan stevens, chromatics and last but not least: silence

Movies: I really liked the one in which Andy Warhol is eating a hamburger.

Update: I finished Flatland. Good book, I can recommend. Very thin as well, if you don't like reading.
Update. Catcher in the Rye was very good as well. I swapped it for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Even more updates: I am currently dragging along The Jungle Books of Rudyard Kipling and Gullivers Travels by Jonathan Swift. I finished both of them and am looking to swap them for something else!
Update: Hello I just wanted to say hi
Utdape: I am reading The warden by Troloppe or something and have anna karenina in my bag. I gave away all the other books. Maybe some small Roald Dahl left or something.
dracula and moby dick are cool, those books are my friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Had a drunk party on my own under a bridge between the two lanes of a highway. Short but intense. I also drank tea that tasted like soap. I saw a cactus of 6m high in Tübingen and took the bus! I got out of bed this morning (haha I'm in bed as we speak) and I drove a car once in my dreams. What nonsense, people don't do amazing stuff, they just walk around and act like they did. (hey I did though)
I don´t have a driver license

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach modular origami. Sometimes I play guitar for people, but only if they´re not watching or if I trust them. We can swap books! I can teach you how to make a good advocado salad. I can teach you how to teach something. Both of my parents are teachers. You know how teachers are. The good ones are idiots, but you love them.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook meals or do a little dance, but I'm open to suggestions. Or we can have a chat about anything from the question of life to the question of who is going to do the dishes. I usually have some dried bread or squashed fruit in my bag as well, but only if you really need it.

i can share nothing special. people show me the way
