About Me

Hey there! My name is Juan Camilo, i'm Colombian and 21 years old. I'm in the fourth year of bachelor in Government and International Relations at Universidad Externado de Colombia. I've lived in France, so I can speak fluently French as well as English and Spanish. I'm currently studying Chinese and Arabic. I think the best way to complement my studies is traveling, and traveling is not just visiting new places but meeting new people from all over the world. I love when after a conversation my perception about a person, a culture, a country or a region changes. I just think the best way to learn si by traveling and the best way to travel is meeting more and more people. So, what would you like to teach me?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This network is the best way I've found to learn as I think we should: learning by travelling and meeting people. If you're visiting Bogotá please let me know and I will try to show you the best of my city and tell you a little bit of our history. If you want to improve your Spanish before visiting Latin America or Spain, I will be glad to help you. And also, If I have the opportunity to visit your city I will be grateful if you could share with me more about your city, your people and your country.

Interests

I think you and I, we are both citizens of the world. And as world is ours we just have to travel and meet people all around it. There is no excuse to say: no. After visiting a place or meeting someone there will be things that you liked or disliked but the most important is the experience you've learn and that your mind is a little bit more open and ready for the next adventure. This is the best way I know to live and get rich.

Music, Movies, and Books

I just love Electronic music, particularly Dance and House. DJ such as Edward Maya, Klangkarussell and Basshunter and between my favorite ones. I also like Vallenato music and to a lesser extend, other kinds very popular here like Reggaeton. I don't have a favorite movie or book, I think I haven't watch and read enough to chose. Movies that I remember: The secret in their eyes and the Millenium trilogy. Books that I remember: the Kafka's Metamorphosis and A season in Hell by Rimbaud.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've live one year and a half in France and I had the opportunity to meet and share with people from Algeria, Togo, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Romania... and France. I've learn a lot from each one of them and based on this experience I've chosen to study what I do.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you want to improve your Spanish before visiting Latin America, Spain, or even Equatorial Guinea, I could help you with that. People say the accent from Bogotá is one of the clearest and more beautiful in the Spanish speaking world. Otherwise, I'm currently learning Chinese and Arabic. I've always loved Arabic culture and I actually want to do my Master in China, if practicing these languages with you doesn't disturb you, please let me know.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Bogotá is a wonderful city. It haves colonial houses, modern buildings and amazing landscapes. One of my favorite neighborhoods is La Candelaria, where is placed my University and other houses with a colonial style, by walking its streets you can smell peace even inside the city. Bogotá also haves modern malls, bars, restaurants and discos. I'm sure you have heard about Andrés Carne de Res. But your visit to Bogotá can't stop at the city, you have to visit little towns around like Chia, Zipaquirá, and Sopó (where you can eat a delicious dessert). Do you want to know more? Do you need a free guide and friend? Please, let me know.
