About Me

I was born and raised in Vietnam and have been studying abroad in the Netherlands since September 2014. I study Economics major and Geography minor in a 3-year Bachelor Program. I'm interested in cultural diversity, sustainability and volunteering work. I love meeting new people, trying different cuisines and talking about Vietnam and other cultures. If you want to know more about Vietnam and/or other South East Asian countries (where I have good friends from all 10 countries), feel free to send a message and I'll be definitely up to talk and help. I want to travel the world in culturally rich countries in South America, South Europe and Africa, so I really like to make more friends and hopefully get there one day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and meeting new people with the same passion, listening to their stories and making new friends. I believe I can learn a lot from couchsurfers and enrich my social life with many great friends from all around the world. And I would love to help people if they want recommendations about travelling in Vietnam or The Netherlands where I have been living for 2 years. So even if I cannot host you for some reasons, I hope to meet up, talk and have a good time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I attended a volunteering program in Cambodia 2015 together with 49 other South East Asian young people. During the program, I stayed in a hotel and got the chance to get to know a hostess with Vietnamese origin. She left the country since 17 and have been living in Cambodia for more than 10 years working as an undocumented worker in Phnom Penh to send money home in Vietnam. Even though she was less than 30, I thought she was my mom's age because she overworked and was mistreated. I felt so sorry for her situation and talked her into coming back to Vietnam and starting over. I asked friends to help her get a job in hospitality in Ho Chi Minh city. 'm very happy for her and we still keep in contact up to now.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life is the journey to come home. The further we go, the more we appreciate the way home.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I usually bring some typical Vietnamese food (banh dau xanh) or Vietnamese coffee as gifts for friends. I can also cook some if you want to try authentic Vietnamese food. I have experience in travelling in South East Asia and overcoming cultural shocks when studying abroad, so I would love to help and talk to you if you have some problems/doubts regarding these.
