About Me

I put my whole life into my backpack a while ago, stepped out the front door, left friends and family behind and started traveling. Since then I transformed from a traveler to a wanderer and enjoy my life to the fullest, it opened the world to me, enriched my life with laughs, stories and remarkable people.
Furthermore I was told I am relaxed and funny. Dunno what these people are talking about, I'm from Germany, so that clearly does not match up!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting new people, their culture, habits, beliefs and humor is the greatest thing on earth. That's why.

Interests

Movies..god I love movies. I lose myself in them, learn from them or just let them entertain me.

Football. I mean proper European Football. German Bundesliga, that's my cup of tea! But you can get me excited with watching all different sorts of sports! Sometimes I even participate.

Hiking is great. I mean, I'm not the most sportive guy on earth, but hiking through beautiful nature - there is nothing where I can feel more alive.
But still, don't get me wrong, relaxing on couch all day with good movies and pizza? Damn, you got me!

I love to meet people I can learn from, people who inspire me with their passion, their stories or simply by the way they are. I can do the stupid talk all day, but in the end there is nothing better than a really nice talk among friends.

Even though I am not a member of any religion I am open minded towards and interested in all different sorts of beliefs, habits and stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music differs a lot. When I was young it was all sorts of Punk and Metal. I grew older (not up!) and adore Pink Floyd now. I always loved Folk music - Irish, Scottish or even from the US. The Offspring and older Rock Classics are always welcome so is Amy McDonald, Mumford and Sons or Of Monsters and Men.
Sure, going out for party, some beats are necessary, but if I had to choose for a lifetime it would definitely be more relaxing than loud!

My favorite movies? Really? I guess that would take too long. In the end it always comes down to these two: 2001: A space odyssey and The Big Lebowski.

I just read "A wise Man's Fear" by Patrick Rothfuss, a fantasy saga. It carries you away into a whole new world in a way I didn't know it's possible! It became a second home for me!
Right now I'm reading Kerouac's on the road which will be followed by a book about the Maori.
Still some of the books of my childhood belong to my all time favorites:
The Neverending Story
The Brothers Lionheart
The Night of Wishes

I like amazing books like Blindness by Jose Saramago, The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini) or historical interesting like "Der Totenwald" (The Deadwood) by Ernst Wiechert who processed his detention in the concentration camp Buchenwald in this book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I built up friendships over the last 20+ years that will last forever. There is nothing I am more proud of, nothing I would trade 'em for and no situation I can imagine risking them for anything.

In march 2015 I went on a completely planless road trip through Indonesian islands to see the Comodo dragon. It was exciting, it was breathtaking, it was dangerous, hilarious and exhausting. Easily the most adventurous time of my life so far!

Just to be outshone by the hitchhiking trip from Cambodia to Bangkok and from Bangkok to Myanmar later the same year. You understand each other. Not via language, just by smiling and nodding. That definitely was the most adventurous time of my life....so far!

Since then I have added a few things to the list like living in Milford Sound, New Zealand; one of the most spectacular places on this planet for over nine months.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll try to teach you German, but after a while you might feel intimidated by this harsh language so it's not unlikely we'll end up watching Youtube videos of people trying to ride a giraffe.

I would love to learn Spanish. That is definitely on top of my list!

Back home I studied history with focus on northern american history. I'd love to learn more about that and share what I know. In general I love to discuss different points of views about whatever. That's an easy way to learn from one another.

Sharing? Normally I share whatever. Except for when it comes to the last slice of pizza. I am so not gonna share my last slice of pizza with you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer you some cookies. Everyone likes cookies!
Besides, all I am carrying around I am willing to share. But most importantly, I will bring myself, my character and my beliefs into your home. I will appreciate your hospitality with decency and hope you will appreciate my company.
