About Me
-- I'm getting a lot of requests and have limited time to host. Please read my bio (and home situation!) and tell me why you'd like to stay with me :) --
I'm an ecologist working in Rotterdam for the natural history museum. I live in a large community house not too far from the centre. Used to live in utrecht where I hosted some couchsurfers too.
I like being outside, and i love to travel. I've been in a lot of places in Europe, and even outside sometimes. I like to contact other people once I'm somewhere, it's usually nice to learn from each other and to be shown around by someone who knows the place. I play bass guitar in a metal band.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've experienced that you experience a place so much better when you stay with locals! A nice CS experience I had was a hitchhiking trip to Portugal in feb. 2015. I stayed at 4 CS hosts and met with some other CS'ers, which was all great. Living in Sweden I've seen that the Couchsurfing community is also great to meet new people when you live in a new country. I host as often as I can, in between work.
Interests
Nature: plants, birds, ecology. Hiking, cycling, visiting busy cities and beautiful nature. Making and listening to music, I'm in a band called Shunyata (see http://shunyata.bandcamp.com)
But also: repairing broken stuff: bikes, amps, as long as I understand how it works. I have some crazy old kerosene stoves and lamps I like to fire up sometimes.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music varies from '60s and '70s (prog-)rock (Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep) to modern jazz (Keith Jarrett) and stuff in between (Jaga Jazzist).
Heavy stuff: post-rock/metal, stoner, doom and more.
No-go: generic hip-hop, reggaeton. Guilty pleasure: Boney M, ABBA. Come listen to my vinyl collection!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2014 I went to the Faroe Islands and stayed there for 2,5 weeks, enjoying the country, hiking and staying with a wonderful family. Also, in 2013, I visited a friend in Uppsala; we drove there by car and went camping in the February cold: we slept on a frozen lake at -15˚C!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to cook, so I'd be happy to cook for/with other people and learn the local dishes.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We can share breakfast and dinner if you want. I can borrow you a bike to travel around town.
