About Me

Hi there! My name is Julia (22).
I lived all my life in Barcelona city, and majored in Fine Arts in Barcelona University. Last year I studied Photography and Cinema in Japan; now, before coming back home, I am traveling around with my camera and a ukulele, seeking for new experiences and stories to share, since I realized that traveling is the thing that most fulfills me and my work.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We all in couch surfing love traveling in a not very common way, right? I hate unpersonalized hotels, and visiting a city without getting to know its dynamic on a non-tourist level. After all, the best part of it is not the trip itself, but the people you meet during the journey.

Right now I am not home, but as soon as I come back to Barelona I'm going to start hosting people -I live in a beautiful part of the city close to Parc Güell :D Can't wait!

Interests

Arts, of any kind.
Flamenco and Polinesia dance.
Japanese calligraphy and Japanese archery.
Drawing, painting and shooting (shortfilms&photographs).
Water sports (diving, snorkel, windsurf). I love nature, the ocean being the most mysterious face of it.
Horse riding and hiking.
Buddhism and spirituality, I love visiting temples.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like Japanese directors or composers like Akira Kurosawa, Hayao Miyazaki and Joe Hisaishi. Lately I am listening to Bob Dylan a lot, also Cat Stevens, Neil Young, Lou Reed, Tom Waits... I also love listening to Ravi Shankar, the amazing sitar player. Also Sigur Ros, Philip Henry, Celtic sounds... and the list goes on and on.
As far as books... authors like Carlos Castaneda, Jose Saramago and M. Rilke.
As for directors and films...the list is really too long, but I would highlight Danny Boyle, Michel Gondry, Lars Von Trier, Ang Lee.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitch hiking with friends along the East Coast of Taiwan. It was an incredible experience: local people helped us so much, and we made loads of new friends on the way. Unforgettable :).

Teach, Learn, Share

I must say I've been very lucky so far, and all my travel experiences have resulted in an explosion of joy and a bunch of knowledge at many levels... I can't wait to keep traveling and getting to know new people and their worlds :).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking, and I'd like to make some delicious vegetarian food for you (I am quite good with the traditional spanish Paella) or show you some recipes I enjoy.
I could also show you the traditional dance of my country, flamenco (I am a begginer though, haha).
If there is no time to cook, I can always invite you to a vegetarian restaurant :)

I speak fluent Spanish and English, and some Japanese, so I will be glad to teach you a bit of any, if you are interested :).
I love exchanging info about books, movies and music bands... there is so much yet to discover!
