Overview
About Me
My name is David and I'm 24 year old guy from the Netherlands.
I've always loved travelling. Visiting different countries and getting to know their culture is a very important part of my holiday. I love visiting cities, get a look at the lovely buildings and learn about the history. Visiting the local restaurants and pubs is a great way to try new things, which I am not shy of!
Next to visiting cities I am very into nature. I love going for hikes through forests and what not. Mountains, little creeks, beaches, you name it. I always try to visit a national park in whatever country I am currently visiting.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In one sentence: to push myself. I've alwayes been very much of planning a holiday, preparing evey little detail, which often results in disappointment. By using CS I hope I can push myself into a more relaxed position when it comes to holidays.
Then, of course, there's meeting people. I love the fact that you spend time with someone instead of being locked up in a hotel room by yourself. I am very much looking forward to hosts showing me around their city and the lovely restaurants, bars and what not. Sharing experiences and stories with people from all over around the world has always fascinated me.
In my years to come I have planned several holidays in mind, but I am most excited to visit Ireland, Sweden and New Zealand. To accomplish these goals, I want to completely rely on CS as a platform to get around these beautiful countries!
Interests
My interests vary from indoors to outdoors. Indoors, I enjoy a fair bit of gaming with friends. I almost always have music on playing in the background and I watch a fair amount of movies.
When I'm not inside, you can find me in my local Irish pub having a few drinks or having a little dance in the nearby clubs. Next to that, I spend a lot of times with friends hanging out on my balcony or going for walks.
Then there's the great outdoors. I love anything survival. Whenever I'm on a holiday, I definitely have to go mountain biking at least once. I do a lot of mountain biking in the Netherlands, but we have no hills, so I have to take advantage of that whenever I'm abroad! I love going on walks or hikes through nature and I love swimming!

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to practically any kind of music, apart from most top 40. Depending on the mood I am in, I generally don't really care what music's played. I can get into anything, and I don't mind singing along or having a little dance!
I'm relatively picky about movies. Don't ask me to watch a rom-com, because that will never happen. I generally prefer the somewhat more "though provoking" kind of movies like drama's or thrillers. But I can enjoy an action movie as well as anyone else.
Reading has always been a big part of my life. In my younger years I mostly read fantasy novels, but now I am trying to branch out towards literature. I read and write poetry and occasionally enjoy a bit of spoken-word.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
As of yet, I haven't done much spectacular. I've had my fair share of holidays and adventures with friends, but nothing I would consider "amazing". This is one of the main reasons I created a CS account. I want to push my borders, get out of my comfort zone, and experience travelling in an entirely different way than what I am used to.
With CS I hope to meet a lot of people from all around the world and share experiences and great time with them. To quote the late and great J.R.R. Tolkien: "I'm looking for someone to share in an adventure, and it's very difficult to find anyone." I want to be able to go places, meet new people and make memories that'll last me a lifetime!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm not sure whether I have a lot of things I can teach anyone, but I am definitely very interested in learning. Whether it's learning about history, culture, life, it doesn't matter to me! In return, I could perhaps share with you some of my wisdom.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd like to think I have a good sense of humour and some stories to tell. Easy-going and worry free, no stress. Ready to have a drink or two, have a laugh, go to parties. Always ready to have a good, heartfelt conversation as well!
