About Me
Hi, I'm Simon, an Australian PhD student studying at the Australian National University, although currently living overseas in Iran, where my partner Alicia and I are studying Persian. I've traveled extensively through Europe in the past, and am keen to keep going - Central Asia has always been the dream.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Most of my favourite books are non-fiction, but I've also really enjoyed George Orwell.
Movies: Anything by the Coen Brothers.
Music: Classical western, classical Iranian (although the tempo is key), Mongolian throat singing, punk, the best/worst of the 1980s...it's all good.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This is a pretty subjective question, but I suppose as far as it goes, living in Mashhad, Iran for a year takes the cake. I also once ate two fermented fish in a row in a remote shack by a frozen lake in Sweden.
Teach, Learn, Share
Happy to each English conversation, basic Persian, talk about global affairs.
Always eager to learn new languages and cultural practices.
Keen to share recipes - my partner and I enjoy cooking, and we are always looking to learn new recipes.
