About Me

I once received a fortune cookie that read,

"You will live in a big house, maybe, someday."

Putting together the words maybe and someday in an effort to encourage was amusing. The real kicker though, was that at the time I was living out of a 93 Honda Civic

A big house? I'd grown accustomed to sleeping with my feet hanging out the window. Sometimes when the weather permitted on the roof like Snoopy.
I was just a kid.

Months prior to this meal I'd stolen (not proud) an address rock from someone's front yard. I'd place it out front whenever I'd park. I dunno, I guess getting laughs was just how I dealt with things.

I recall leaving that shitty Chinese buffet with my new fortune in hand. I remember staring at that rock as I walked towards my car.

I never laughed so hard in my life.

Though I've triumphed over the many trials and tribulations life has since brought; addiction has followed me. I remain a recovering Crab Rangoon addict.
A very, very weak one at that. :)

So it would be a bold faced lie to sit here and tell you there haven't been hundreds if not thousands of fortune cookies since the one I received that day.
But theres only been one since that has held such weight.

"You should be able to undertake and complete anything".

It's likely this was just another example of Chance's funny arithmetic. A serendipitous reminder that timing truly is everything. And I know it sounds ridiculous, but a stupid cookie got me thinking. In doing so it put in perspective the distance between where I started and where I currently stand. At 29yrs old I may still have to remind myself to use my dresser, but all things considered I've come a long way.

I know that was a strange way to introduce myself, but yeah... that's me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My resourcefulness, pride and awareness have played a large part in getting me this far. But, what I'm most grateful for are the many people that I've met. Those that showed me kindness, compassion, empathy and love. Sometimes when even I found myself undeserving. I'm the product of these encounters.

Everyone starts off as strangers; the world is my family.

Interests

Cooking, sharing stories, making people laugh. My dog.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

If it were that amazing, you'd have already heard about it.
I've got a pretty sweet beard though.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a good listener.
