About Me

Middle child, an older brother and a younger sister. Was a ex canoeing & dragonboater for 6 years back in my junior college days. Travelled to all the way to United States and Prague to compete, as well as regional countries such as Hong Kong & Macau.

My other passions include stock investment, culinary cooking and marathon running. I was inspired by my father since a young age to be financially free as soon as possible. Coupled with my desire to keeping learning and understand new businesses, I try to dedicate most of my free time to analysing businesses and as well as stock investment.

Fascinated by the culinary skills of top chefs such as Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White and Raymond Blanc, the latter of which i think is the best of the best in the world. Never been to culinary school or receiving any professional training, Everything i learn from Youtube. Still got loads to learn on this front, would love to hear some tips and advice from fellow culinary enthusiasts.

Marathon running is another of my passions. I picked it up during the cadet days of my National Service where times were the toughest. Long runs on weekends rejuvenated the mind and soul and reseted myself for a tough new week ahead. Aside from my closest friends and family members, running was one of the only things i could seek aid from during my cadet times. It teaches me composure, resilience and mental toughness. I'll be attempting my first full Sundown Marathon in July 2015.

I crave adventures and new experiences, and have a great desire to travel alone, meet new people and experience different perspectives of life.

Currently, I'm serving the remainder of my National Service liability as a Platoon Commander in Basic Military Training Centre. Having trained numerous batches of recruits, the 9 month stint as a platoon commander opened my eyes to a plethora of different types of people. Most importantly, the experience taught me how to reach people better, to inspire and to talk confidently and properly in front of 200 men. It was an invaluable experience.

A strong believer that as long our will is strong, anything can be learnt, anything can be accomplished and done. The universe favours the bold and courageous, and life's too short to let things flow by. As long as we embrace the pain of learning, anything can be learnt.

Interests

Culinary Cooking! Music, good food, new people and especially good conversations. Investment, cooking and the desire to keep learning and experiencing new stuff are my main passions.

As much as I like a big night out I do love good conversations as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music wise I have a rotating list of bands. Currently loving Maroon 5, Calvin Harris, Foster the People,

Titanic, Taken, Fight Club, Tim Burton. Love a good action, thriller film and love stop motion, foreign films and animations.

Adore books from Malcolm Gladwell, Legal Thrillers from John Grisham, Road Dahl, Mitch Albom and good books on Stock Investment. Favourite on those are One Up Wall Street, Beating The Street, and the king of kings, The Intelligent Investor.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As part of military infantry training I did a 9 day survival cum navigation mission in the Jungles of Brunei. We were given 2 days worth of rations and were thrown into the abyss of the jungles, racing against time to locate checkpoints. Heat rashes, sandfly & wasp attacks, heat injuries, killing quails, wild boar sighting and unforgivable thunder storms summed up a memorable yet excruciatingly painful 9 days. Fantastic experience that I would not have passed in a life time. I emerged from those jungles a changed person. Imagine the stench of not bathing for 9 days!
