Overview
About Me
I'm an eager traveller and love to learn about all aspects of the countries I visit. At the age of 5 I was put on a plane to go and visit my grandparents and I've not really stopped since (don't worry I was in the care of the stewards).
The typical family holidays I've been on were also usually road trips in some form, and based around where we had friends or family. We only flew when necessary and tried our best to experience day-to-day life wherever we went. I'm aiming to continue with this style of travel but am hoping to make my own friends along the way!
I currently am on a study year abroad in Singapore as part of my Maths degree at the University of Glasgow. I'm finding it fascinating living in another country and discovering unexpected differences from what I've been accustomed to. Living in Singapore has also been a springboard for me to go on my first "big trip" travelling overground from Singapore up through Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia before finishing in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I had my first Couchsurfing experience through my travel buddy as we were travelling in SE Asia. I was so touched by the generosity and friendliness of the people we met that I wanted to be able to do so again and, in time (i.e. when I have the space), reciprocate.
Interests
I like to think I have a fairly wide range of interests- but I'll let you be the judge! I always enjoy some history, I have a particular knack for the British monarchy (with a special extension to Queen's Victoria's many many descendants).
I'm not a sporty person but absolutely love the Olympics and Wimbledon. That said I do like to embrace the outdoors through camping, hiking, skiing and sailing.
I very much enjoy my music, I used to play 'cello in my local youth orchestra and be part of a choir.
I'm also game for pretty much any form of statistics.

Music, Movies, and Books
You can pretty much give me a book and I'll read it, I have a particular fondness for Harry Potter and Middle-earth. However some recently enjoyed books include "North and South", "The Count of Monte Cristo" and "Last Man in Tower", overland travel provides wonderful reading opportunities!
Movie adaptations of books are usually seen (and judged). Other movies I see tend to be historical dramas, superhero movies or comedies. A few favourites would be "Twelfth Night"(1988), "Little Women" (1994) and "Bride and Prejudice" (2004)... which I've just now realised are all adaptations one way or another.
Musically I have a slight preference for classic British pop (particularly the 80's) as well as Musicals (I learned T.S. Elliot poetry thanks to "Cats"). Basically if it's got a rhythm I'll probably end up tapping/bopping away to it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just one?
Celebrated my 18th birthday at the top of my 18th Munro (Scottish mountains over 3000ft) on a 4 day wild camping holiday.
Teach, Learn, Share
As they say: you learn something new everyday. I find that interactions with anyone always gives me something to think about, hopefully I can do the same with others.
I could probably do a bit of cooking but my portion control is fairly firmly fixed for a growing family of 5 and I've not cooked for over 9 months now! If push comes to shove I can always try to teach a bit of Maths.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Knowledge about where I've already been and what I've been told is a wry sense of humour.
