About Me

I'm 25 years old, from the Netherlands. I'm a positive, curious, thoughtful and honest person. I like being around people, but I also enjoy being alone. I need a healthy balance between the two. Same goes for my behavior, sometimes a little mad and full of energy and other times I love the peace and quiet.
I'm currently traveling through Australia and some of Asia and the US. I'm excited to experience life in a different way then I would at home. Get out of my comfortzone a bit and see what more the world has to offer. I've been working on a dairyfarm in Australia, something I would have never done back home. It was a great experience! I've been a bartender in a tiny monastery village in WA, where I've experienced Australia away from the city. With the local farmers coming in for a beer every night.
Stayed in an amazing ashram on the east coast of AU. Got drunk on rice wine 11 in the morning at a Vietnamese wedding. These have been amazing experiences on my travel so far, because it's different from anything I've seen before. And I'm looking forward to many more great experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to it, but it seems like a great way to discover new places in a different way and to meet people that can inspire you and share their stories with you.

Interests

Traveling, experiencing different cultures and the beauty of this world, good food and sharing this, love going to concerts and festivals, spirituality in every way it helps me get in touch with my inner self, reading and drawing, love animals, the beach and nature. Not so much the spiders though.
And recently I've discovered an interest in wanting to learn how to make music. I've learned my first song on the piano an I would love to one day buy a hand pan.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: 'A mutant message from downunder', truly a beautiful story!
Love Paulo Coelho's books. I can't lie about how much I like Harry Potter.

Music: The XX, Ben Howard, Xavier Rudd, Dustin Thomas, Alt-J, The Tallest Man on Earth, Half Moon Run and many more!

Movies: The curious case of Benjamin Button, The Hours, Ocean's movies, Lord of the Rings, Nell, The Shawshank Redemption, all kinds of movies really..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done a high school experience in California when I was 17. Living with a host family in a completely different culture and integrating in this culture was very special. I learned a lot and had an amazing year with a second family for the rest of my life. They even took me volunteering in Mexico.

One of my most amazing moments was sitting in the snow all by myself in the middle of nowhere in Norway and hearing nothing but the wind. Total Bliss!
