Hello! I'm Onur, a passionate traveler and civil engineer from Turkiye. After completing my studies in civil engineering, I began my career in Qatar as a project engineer, contributing to some of the world's most iconic construction projects. My love for travel started in my beautiful homeland and extended to exploring some of Europe's most stunning countries.

Driven by a desire to see more of the world, I decided to take a gap year to immerse myself in new cultures and experiences. I chose to begin this journey in New Zealand, one of the farthest edges of the globe. Over the past four months, I've had the incredible opportunity to travel across the North Island, soaking in its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture. My adventure continues as I plan to explore the South Island next, followed by a trip to Bali, Indonesia, to escape the winter and embrace the summer sunshine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m traveling with my awesome friend Sedat. We're both from Turkey and met back in our university days while studying civil engineering. We decided to take a break from our careers to embark on an adventure of a lifetime, exploring new cultures, savoring delicious cuisines, and connecting with incredible people from around the globe.

Right now, we’re on a working holiday visa in the stunning land of New Zealand. For the past four months, we've been soaking in the beauty of this country, from hiking through its enchanting forests to marveling at its breathtaking waterfalls. As the kiwi fruit season wraps up and our temporary jobs come to an end, we’re gearing up for an epic road trip from Tauranga to Wellington. Our route will take us through Rotorua, Napier, Hastings, and Palmerston North, and we’re super excited to meet fantastic hosts along the way.

We love sharing stories, laughing over new experiences, and making lifelong friends. If you’re up for some great conversations, cultural exchanges, and maybe a bit of adventure, we’d absolutely love to stay with you and get to know you!
